This condo home in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur leverages on a stylish sense of simplicity to offer its owners an ultra-cosy home that they love spending time in.
While a simple, minimal design aesthetic is called for, IQI Concept also ensured that the space does not end up bare and cold. To do this, the designers went for a warm and neutral colour theme strategically enhanced with luxurious details.
“The client selected this unit because of its vast balcony view and the amount of sunlight that streams into the unit. He wanted a modern approach to his home, minimal but not bare,” the designers elaborate. “Also, the client’s preferred colour concept was neutral, earthy tones so that the house feels warm yet spacious.”
Upon stepping foot into this 1,400 sqft home, a feeling of lived-in cosiness immediately envelops the senses. A plush light-coloured sofa sitting atop a fluffy carpet anchors the living area, infusing a textural touch to complement the white walls and TV panel. As the designers wanted to create a uniform feature wall element, a cream-beige media cabinet is customised to blend with the TV panel.
Behind the sofa, the dining area is an elegant space featuring a marble table accompanied by upholstered chairs. A lighting piece with gold rings and gold decor enliven the area while adding a chic vibe to the room.
According to the designers, gold elements like gold inlay, mirror surfaces, and also curved details were employed as the main design highlights to give this home a personal yet elegant ambience. For the adjacent breakfast counter, which is designed with curved edges, subtle gold inlays and a set of three globe lights infuse visual interest to the counter space. Across the counter, a cream-coloured kitchen completes the space.
The earthy, neutral palette seamlessly makes its way into the master bedroom, created as a blissful sanctuary for total rest and relaxation. A plush upholstered headboard leans against creamy grey wall panels, keeping the monochromatic effect consistent.
“We customised most of the loose furniture pieces to fit the client’s requirements in terms of comfort, space planning, and colour matching. They also serve to complement the built-in components of the unit. For instance, the sofa, master bedhead, and study table were all constructed according to our proposed design,” the designers explain.
In the second bedroom, the designers incorporated vertical lines on the feature wall to blend with the wood-toned built-in furniture. For the third bedroom, which consists of twin beds, the entire space is kept clean and clutter-free. On the side, a built-in cupboard with an attached vanity top and open shelves provide the occupants with space to store their belongings.
