Oriental furnishing imbues a wood-dominant canvas in this exquisite dwelling, setting off a thematic effect that eclectically resonates with its contemporary foundation.
In this home, Mode Interior Style skillfully implemented a series of Oriental-inspired furniture and details while maintaining a modern setting throughout its key spaces. The thematic approach starts in the living hall where wood features take centrestage to complement the solid timber furniture. Where the Chinese antique looking sofa set and furnishing accessories engage the space in an eclectic Oriental theme, the structural elements are kept decisively contemporary. For instance, next to the decorative screen, panels of wooden strips balance out the strong motifs of the carvings on the screen. On the TV wall, the wooden strips are used again to put in a touch of linearity to the space. Overhead, the custom-made ceiling feature takes on a wood surface, enhanced by modern pendant lamps with unique frames.
The interplay of traditional-meets modern continues in the dining area. The round timber table and chairs are set next to a cabinet reminiscence of those used in ancient Chinese dwellings. The dining set faces a feature wall comprising a marble surface affixed with a huge circular element with intricate carvings. A few steps away, the dry kitchen complements the dining area with its warm wood cabinets. Black countertops are used, blending with the modern appliances that are placed neatly within the built-in cabinetry. The wet kitchen also employs the same materials, which correspond to the green views outside, creating a fresh and welcoming ambience throughout the space.
Moving upstairs, the space transitions to a softer tone – this is particularly evident in the master bedroom. Marble finishes now play a more dominant role to offset the wood flooring and wood surface that makes up the ceiling. The headboard of the bed leans against a feature wall adorned entirely in marble, giving off a feeling of grandeur. Next to it, the walk-in wardrobe is done up with glass and mirror surfaces to open up the space.
One of the bedrooms upstairs features a set of four bunk beds within a cosy chamber that comes complete with a mini staircase in the centre to access the upper beds. To give occupants a sense of private comfort, beds are tucked into the carved-out niches enveloped in lush upholstery.
