Taiwanese studio INK Design Space has combined pared-back Japanese minimalism with bright orange, crisp white, warm timber and dark stone at Sukiyaki, a sukiyaki restaurant in Taipei’s Da’an district conceived as a relaxed spot where diners can comfortably enjoy a hot pot on their own.
The iridescent glass at the entrance takes its cue from the bustling streets of Ginza in Tokyo. As the light shifts and passers-by move past, it throws off neon-like tones that echo the bold brand logo on the white wall beside it.

Inside, the studio paired a black faux-stone counter with a clean white base to create a generous bar-style dining area. High stools are lined up in neat rows, and leather pouches tucked beneath the warm timber seats give diners a place to stow their bags without blocking the aisle.
Overhead, rounded woven lattice light boxes cast a soft, diffused glow that sets an easy yet refined pace for the meal. Seated around the counter, diners face the cast-iron pots and can follow the rhythm of the chefs up close, from the opening of each pot to the pouring of the sauce and the rising steam.

On one wall, an illustration of a leaping rabbit is sketched in fluid red lines across the textured surface. The playful drawing adds a touch of humour and energy to the calm, timber-toned interior.
