Spanning over an impressive 6,000 square feet, the MH House in USJ is home to a lively family of seven. This semi-detached residence, a project by ENDO, redefines the concept of harmonious living, intertwining the elements of space, light, and nature in a unique architectural symphony.
The core challenge faced by the designers was transforming the original, oddly shaped and narrow floor plan into a vibrant, liveable space. The solution was to open up the house, welcoming an abundance of natural light, which now dances through the expansive windows and sliding doors, creating an airy, open atmosphere that’s both inviting and functional.
The interior design also hinges on a deliberate choice of materials that speak of refined taste yet practical durability. Stark white walls serve as a canvas for the interplay of light and shadow, complemented by the understated elegance of light grey stone. The warmth of oak timber flooring and the modernity of black metal details create a dialogue between the natural and the crafted.
The standout feature of MH House is, undoubtedly, its courtyard. This cosy sanctuary is accessible through a large sliding door that leads to a welcoming patio. The side area of the courtyard is particularly captivating, featuring a wall constructed from concrete blocks that seamlessly incorporates a trickling water feature. This thoughtful design element not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides a soothing auditory experience, reminiscent of a serene natural stream. Overall this outdoor space is a wonderful complement to the contemporary setting of the home, providing a rejuvenating outdoor space for the family to catch a breather and enjoy the outdoors in privacy.
