This luxurious residence, spanning 15,000 square feet, stands as a testament to thoughtful architectural design and functionality. Designed by architect Rien of TKCA, seamlessly merges high-end design with functional living. The property, split into two wings, offers a thoughtful layout: one side dedicated to social entertainment, and the other reserved for intimate family moments.
The homeowners had a clear vision for their ideal home, one where windows open to pool views, small amazon forest, and spaces for their children to play. With this in mind, Rien translated these dreams into a tangible reality, creating a sanctuary for the six-member family to call home.
At first glance, the most striking feature is the vibrant exterior. The façade, cloaked in multi-colored glass panels, plays with light to create a dynamic spectrum that mirrors the homeowner’s zest for life and their deep connections with family and friends. The joyful palette isn’t just a design statement—it reflects the emotional core of the home: a space for celebration and connection.
Upon entering the living room, you’re greeted by a panoramic view of the outdoors, with the pool, water slide, jacuzzi, outdoor cinema, and BBQ area effortlessly blending into the interior space. “When we open the folding glass doors, the entire outdoor landscape comes alive, and the children are always within view,” notes Rien. The room exudes a quiet elegance, with a marble-clad TV wall, titanium accents, and softly lit ceilings setting a serene tone. The imported Belgian modular sofa adds both flexibility and a subtle touch of sophistication.
In the dining area, the serene wood tones paired with accents of white and gold set a refined tone. The centerpiece is a custom-designed Italian marble table that seats 12, meeting the family’s desire for large gatherings. “The owners wanted a table that was at least 3.6 meters long, and we sourced this unique slab from Italy,” explains the architect. The table is paired with grey leather chairs, striking a balance between modern luxury and timeless design, while a burgundy diamond-patterned bar stool adds a pop of color to the adjacent kitchen island.
Moving upstairs, the stairwell’s pure white walls are accentuated by sleek vertical slats, with linear lighting enhancing the spatial depth. Gold bird sculptures and feather accents embellish the stairway, complemented by a golden chandelier, contributing to the home’s subtle yet luxurious aesthetic.
The family area takes on a more industrial aesthetic, with deep browns and muted tones creating a sense of warmth. At the entrance, an art screen featuring the homeowners’ initials, “K,” in tones of red and orange, adds a playful yet personal touch. Titanium-coated ceiling panels extend the room visually, enhancing the sense of depth and openness.
A unique feature of the space is the world map on the wall behind the family sofa. “We designed this space for the owners to place photos of the countries they visit, creating a personal map filled with family memories,” says Rien.
The children’s bedrooms are a playful contrast to the rest of the home. Soft pastels of pink, green, and grey-blue define the rooms, with natural motifs like clouds, animals, and stars. Custom wooden platforms double as reading and play areas, and the curved edges of the cabinetry add a sense of whimsy and safety for the young ones.
“The homeowners are true connoisseurs of life,” Rien notes. “They enjoy entertaining and relaxing with a good drink, which is why nearly every space is equipped with a fridge, wine cooler, or bar counter. The entire top floor is their private retreat.”
The master bedroom spans nearly 4,000 square feet, featuring an island bar, reading nook, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom, and balcony. A rich mix of materials—metal, stone, leather, glass, wood, and mirrors—creates a sophisticated, layered aesthetic, while also providing a sense of retreat and rejuvenation.
In the master bathroom, gray veined stonework sets a calming tone, with dark wood accents bringing warmth to the space. “Thanks to the smart home system, the owners can control everything with the push of a button—whether it’s turning on music or adjusting the lighting for a relaxing soak in the jacuzzi while watching a waterproof TV,” Rien explains.
Designed for hosting guests, the space is filled with light, thanks to stained glass windows that cast vibrant hues throughout the interior. The white perforated metal spiral staircase snakes through the home, with colored light spilling through its perforations to create a dynamic interplay of shadow and light.
“As you ascend the stairs, you catch glimpses of the floors below, creating a layered experience,” says Rien.
The home theater, one of Rien‘s personal favorite spaces, is an acoustically engineered marvel. The walls, floor, and ceiling are fully clad in sound-absorbing materials, ensuring an immersive audio-visual experience. Rich burgundy sofas serve as the room’s focal point, and customizable RGB mood lighting sets the perfect ambiance for every family movie night.
Descending a few steps, the time-traveling journey leads to a retro gaming arcade from the ‘70s and ‘80s, complete with vintage game machines. “We chose a flexible sofa here so that guests can sit and enjoy the homeowner’s collection of art, hearing stories of their travels,” says Rien. The space is thoughtfully designed to evoke nostalgia while providing modern comfort.
The activity space is designed as a dedicated leisure area for the family. A large daybed by the window offers a cozy, expansive relaxation corner, while interactive game facilities have been incorporated to create a private play area for the children. This family-focused space fosters connection and togetherness, where weekends are filled with joy and shared moments between the six family members.
Finally, the social area, where friends can gather for drinks and karaoke, is a stylish blend of white marble countertops, burgundy leather sofas, and sleek metal display racks. The bar area is equipped with a beer tap, perfect for impromptu parties. “When the party’s on, the beer has to be finished; no leftovers allowed,” laughs Rien, perfectly capturing the homeowner’s love for hosting.
The wine cellar is a 24/7 showcase of the homeowners’ impressive collection. With linear metal shelving and a strategic lighting scheme, the room brings the vibrancy of the bottles to life, neatly organized by color.
Outdoors, the space is a tropical oasis with ample natural sunlight. Lush greenery lines the walkways, and the wood decking creates a warm, inviting space for outdoor dining. The long wooden table and wicker pendant lights evoke a relaxed Bali vibe, completing this dreamy outdoor retreat.
