Design Without Borders 2026: Exploring Global Platforms and Design Excellence

by creativehomex

Design knows no boundaries. Held at The Muse Hall, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on 4 March 2026, the exclusive Design Without Borders 2026, organised by iN Design Lab, highlighted the growing connections between designers and brands worldwide, showcasing how creativity now thrives without geographical limits.

The afternoon opened with a warm welcome from the event MC, setting the stage for an agenda designed to explore the future of global design connectivity. Mr/ Vincent Tan delivered the first keynote, “From China to Completion: A Seamless Cross-Border Design Execution Platform,” highlighting how designers can now manage projects end-to-end across borders, from sourcing and quality control to logistics and on-site implementation.

Next, the spotlight turned to the international design stage as Siya, representing Guangzhou Design Week, detailed the organisation’s overseas service system and upcoming initiatives for 2026. Siya’s presentation emphasised the role of global platforms in fostering collaboration, connecting designers and brands worldwide, and sharing insights that resonate across markets.

Concluding the presentation segment, Iko iN, founder of iN Design Lab, delivered a compelling speech on the significance of collaboration in contemporary design. “Today’s gathering is really about one important idea — that design today is no longer limited by geography. Designers, brands, and manufacturers are increasingly connected across borders, and collaboration is becoming more important than ever. This is also why platforms like Guangzhou Design Week play such an important role in bringing together the global design community. Over the years, we have brought Malaysian designers and buyers to Guangzhou, and every year the response becomes stronger and more exciting,” Iko shares.

Beyond highlighting cross-border connections, Iko celebrated the achievements of the local design community, revealing the shortlisted projects of MFID 2026 and announcing the winning brands of the iDs’ Choice Awards. These recognitions underscored innovation, quality, and the rising standards of design within the region.

Iko iN also took the opportunity to acknowledge the support of the Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), describing the long-standing collaboration as pivotal in promoting design excellence. He highlighted how MIFF’s partnership with iN Design Lab reflects a shared vision to elevate regional talent, foster meaningful industry connections, and bring Malaysian designers to international platforms.

The event then transitioned into a networking session, offering attendees the chance to connect directly with speakers and industry partners. A group photo marked the celebration of both global collaboration and local excellence, leaving participants inspired by the possibilities of design without borders.
