Design Shanghai, Asia’s largest international design event series, commemorated its 10th anniversary from June 8th to 11th in collaboration with Audi. Over the course of four days, the event attracted an impressive 77,254 visitors and featured over 600 local and international brands representing 40 countries and regions. Visitors from 33 countries, including Malaysia, the Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, the US, Vietnam, Spain, Australia, Canada, Christmas Island, Denmark, Finland, China Hong Kong, China Taiwan, and China Macau, attended the show.
With a 50% expansion compared to previous years, the renowned exhibition delved into the harmonious collaboration between Eastern and Western design philosophies across three vibrant Halls. Design Shanghai showcased a wide array of innovative products, ranging from furniture to decor, as both international and Chinese brands took the opportunity to unveil their latest creations. Sun at Six, USA:
Antares Yee, the Creative Director of Sun at Six, a contemporary furniture design studio based in New York City, unveiled four new pieces, including the stunning Wave dining table.
Fuli, China:
Chinese brand Fuli introduced a fresh collection of rugs designed by renowned British fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes. The collection featured Rhodes’ iconic lipstick pattern, a design that has been celebrated and collected at the V&A since its creation in 1968.
Maria Yee, USA:
Maria Yee, a design pioneer specializing in California contemporary furniture, showcased her Zither Lattice coffee table and Beam leather sofa. These versatile and modular units offer numerous configuration possibilities, serving as sofas, loveseats, ottomans, or sectionals. With clean modern designs and relaxed silhouettes, they can be customized with various leather colors to suit any space and style.
Acerbis, Italy:
Acerbis presented the Due Più collection designed by Nanda Vigo, featuring a steel frame and furs reclaimed from the food industry, aligning with circular economy principles and contemporary ethical practices. With 150 years of expertise, Acerbis is renowned as an esteemed furniture company, representing the essence of Italian design.
Frank Chou, China:
Frank Chou showcased the “stand” coffee table, a reinterpretation of Bauhaus design. The table’s main frame is covered with wool fabric, creating an intriguing contrast with its minimalist structure and glass top.
Christofle, France:
Christofle launched the “MOOD ASIA” tray, comprising removable and reversible wooden compartments, porcelain ramekins, and sauce bowls. This platter invites a shared experience and evokes emotions around Asian gastronomy.
Additionally, Christofle introduced a special “sneaker box,” meticulously handcrafted by a master silversmith using centuries-old techniques, catering to the demands of discerning sneaker collectors.
GUBI, Denmark:
GUBI revealed three new collections: “Satellite” by Mathieu Matégot, “Timberline” by Mads Caprani, and “Carmel” by OEO STUDIO, showcasing their commitment to innovative design.
Mattiazzi, Italy:
Mattiazzi showcased new designs by acclaimed designers Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic, and Studio Œ. With a strong design ethos, Mattiazzi has established itself as a renowned brand, collaborating with globally recognized designers.
Flos, Italy:
Flos introduced four new collections: My Circuit, Taccia White, 2097-75/Matte White, and Skynet Suspension, the latter designed by Marcel Wanders. Known as a leading manufacturer of top-end designer lights and lighting systems, Flos boasts an extensive catalogue of iconic lamps crafted by design legends.
SEEDESIGN, Taiwan:
SeeDesign launched an innovative lighting collection called WING, which artfully balances imagination and realization. The collection features the exquisite “Dual lighting” system, where upward light is softly diffused through a translucent dual-leaf, creating a cozy and weightless atmosphere.
Jianze, China:
Jianze presented seven remarkable pieces, including the Moments Showcase, Seeds Storage System, Pine-Pine Sofa, Ripple System, and the captivating Noon mirror. Collaborating with renowned industrial designer Chen Min and Dutch design duo Raw Color, Jianze aims to provide inclusive and environmentally friendly home design, bringing together diverse design forces from both China and abroad.
