Interior designers and industry professionals gathered at the Bosch & Gaggenau Experience Centre in Damansara Utama for The Future Kitchen 2026, an industry sharing session bringing together kitchen trends, changing homeowner expectations, product innovation and new opportunities for the design community.
Presented in collaboration with Bosch and iN Design, the afternoon was designed not simply as a product showcase, but as a platform where designers could exchange ideas, gain market insights and experience new kitchen technology first-hand.
From a Place of Cooking to a Place of Living
The event opened with welcome remarks by Iko iN of iN Design, who highlighted how the role of the kitchen continues to evolve.
No longer simply a functional area for food preparation, today’s kitchen is increasingly becoming part of the home’s social environment — a place where families gather, guests are entertained and everyday life takes place.
This changing relationship between people and their kitchens set the direction for the afternoon’s conversations.
Ms Yen, Head of Marketing of BSH Home Appliances Malaysia, followed with her welcome remarks, sharing Bosch’s commitment to supporting the design community through innovation, knowledge and closer industry collaboration.
European Kitchen Trends Meet Today’s Homeowner Expectations
The industry insight session was presented by Yoong, Brand Director of Stanzo Italia, who brought a European kitchen perspective to the designer audience.
His sharing explored current directions in European kitchen design alongside the changing expectations of today’s homeowners — giving Malaysian designers an opportunity to consider how international influences are translating into local lifestyles and residential projects.
From increasingly integrated living spaces to cleaner visual compositions, greater personalisation and the growing relationship between appliances and interior architecture, the session looked beyond aesthetics to examine how the kitchen itself is evolving.
For designers, the discussion offered an important perspective: understanding what homeowners are likely to ask for next can be just as valuable as understanding what is trending today.
Bosch Puts Downdraft Technology in the Spotlight
Following the industry sharing, Bosch introduced its Downdraft Cooking System, giving designers a closer understanding of the technology and its potential within contemporary kitchen planning.
The Bosch Downdraft Ventilation System was recognised at the iDs’ Choice Awards 2026 as Kitchen Innovation of the Year – Downdraft Ventilation System, reflecting the growing relevance of integrated kitchen solutions within today’s design landscape.
Rather than relying on a conventional overhead hood, downdraft ventilation allows extraction to be integrated directly into the cooking area. This opens up new possibilities for designers working with kitchen islands, open-plan environments and spaces where maintaining clean visual lines is a priority.
For interior designers, the session provided an opportunity not only to discover the product, but also to better understand how new appliance technologies can influence the way kitchens are planned.
Experiencing the Technology in Action
The presentation then moved from discussion to experience through a live cooking demonstration.
Guests were able to see the Bosch system operating in an actual cooking environment and observe how the technology integrates cooking and ventilation within one streamlined setting.
The demonstration also reinforced one of the key ideas running throughout the event: good kitchen innovation should not exist separately from design. Instead, technology should support the way a space looks, functions and ultimately feels to the homeowner.
Building Stronger Connections with the Design Community
The afternoon continued with an introduction to the Designer Partnership Programme, providing attending interior designers with further information on the support and opportunities available when working with Bosch.
The event concluded with networking, refreshments and an opportunity for guests to explore the products more closely at the Bosch & Gaggenau Experience Centre.
The Future Kitchen 2026 ultimately brought together three important perspectives — the changing expectations of homeowners, international kitchen trends and the technologies responding to those changes.
For the designers in attendance, the conversation was not simply about what the kitchen looks like today, but where it is heading next — and how designers can stay ahead of that change.
