Iko In, Publisher and Founder of CHX, alongside the CHX team, recently embarked on an exhilarating journey through the bustling halls of Salone del Mobile 2024, the world’s premier furniture and design exhibition. Upon stepping foot into the exhibition space, we were immediately greeted by a dazzling array of furniture designs, innovative technologies, and avant-garde concepts. With our senses fully engaged and our cameras ready to capture the moment, we eagerly set out to explore the trends that promise to shape the future of design.

We were captivated by the variety of styles, materials, and designer crafts showcased. Ranging from sleek, understated designs to daring and diverse creations, every piece narrated its distinct tale, sparking their creativity.

Here are some of the stands and installations that stole the show for us:

Acerbis embraced vibrant colour immersion with red lacquered walls and neon signage, marking a new collaboration with designers Sabine Marcelis and Pietro Russo. Taiju Yamashita’s installation, featuring a dense three-dimensional grid of suspended glass spheres, created mesmerising fractal effects that captured attention.

Among the highly photographed installations at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024, Taiju Yamashita, founder of DRAFT Inc., crafted a remarkable exhibit. It featured a dense three-dimensional grid of suspended glass spheres, resulting in diverse fractal effects depending on the viewer’s perspective.

Open-plan stands, such as Campeggi with its vibrant outlook and (AB)Normal’s theatrical display for Gufram featured industrial elements, including a striking staircase flanked by galvanised sheets.

Bitossi Ceramiche, which employed light wood panelling to showcase its new collection, made in collaboration with Objects of Common Interest, for a domestic feel.

QuadroDesign introduced three new collections, with products crafted from stainless steel, marrying form and function seamlessly. Bitossi Ceramiche utilised light wood panelling to evoke a domestic atmosphere for its collaboration with Objects of Common Interest.

Poltronova presented “Hyper Poltronova,” an installation inspired by radical design movements, showcasing a dematerialisation of exhibited products into graphic surfaces. The immersive experience highlighted the brand’s diverse identity through a hyper-pop aesthetic.

Salone Satellite celebrated its 25th edition, showcasing 600 talented young designers and 22 design schools, emphasising the intricate relationship between manufacturing and emerging talent.

The International Bathroom Exhibition hosted 180 exhibitors, focusing on cutting-edge technologies, inventive materials, fresh collaborations with designers, and a pervasive commitment to sustainability evident in all showcased products.

The installation “Under the Surface” by Emiliano Ponzi, in collaboration with Accurat and Design Group Italia, which was part of the International Bathroom Exhibition immersed visitors in an underwater setting, symbolising the advancement of bathroom furniture in water sustainability. It prompts contemplation on the environmental consequences of our daily water usage habits through its visually compelling narrative. This exhibition is an integral component of the International Bathroom Exhibition.

Additionally, we were impressed by Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta’s tactile ceramic exhibition for Laufen, Vismaravetro’s innovative semi-frameless shower enclosure utilising subtraction principles, and Roca’s introduction of a new collection by Andreu Carulla.
