Salone del Mobile 2026: Poltrona Frau’s “True Over Time” exhibition celebrates authenticity that outlasts seasons

At its Via Manzoni flagship store, the Italian luxury brand transforms historic palazzo into a meditation on design that gains value, not wrinkles.

For Milan Design Week 2026, Poltrona Frau has rejected the usual product‑launch frenzy. Instead, the brand presents “True Over Time” – an exhibition that argues for a quieter, more durable kind of luxury: design that does not age, but accumulates meaning.

Inside Palazzo Gallarati Scotti, the company’s flagship has been reimagined by Studio Brigolin Baschera, with styling by Simona Cremascoli. The central motif is the dima – the pattern template used to cut upholstery. Recreated as large, sculptural wooden panels finished with a tactile ceramic‑like coating, these dimas line the walls like bas‑reliefs. They are a literal and symbolic thread, connecting the hand‑cutting of leather to the idea of authenticity revealed through time.

“The durability of our products is not merely physical,” says Poltrona Frau CEO Nicola Coropulis. “It also lies in their ability to evolve without losing modernity, beauty, or functionality. The most authentic luxury lies in choosing furnishings that do not age, but rather gain value – enriched by stories, emotions, and memories.”

The exhibition unfolds across several rooms. In the luminous milky‑toned living area, new pieces include Jean‑Marie Massaud’s Archibald Sofa System paired with Baldwin coffee tables (from sister brand Ceccotti Collezioni), Dante Bonuccelli’s double‑sided DomusCove shelving, and two new lamps: Tullisse by Atelier Oi and Gio Ponti Oro. Artist Daniele Papuli contributes a paper‑gauze “scultografia”.

A dedicated night area features Faye Toogood’s LieLow collection – a bed and bedside tables with soft, playful shapes – contrasting with a special‑edition Albero GFF100 bookcase. The DressCove wardrobe system introduces a new “beauty” module with integrated mirror and shelf.

One of the most compelling moments is the Gallery, painted deep teal. Here, a wall of alphabetically arranged drawers forms the “Poltrona Frau Archive”, preserving keywords like “Ago curvo” (curved needle), “Capitonné”, and “Pelle” (leather). Large videowalls show close‑ups of artisans cutting, folding and stitching – what the brand calls “the intelligence of the hands”, passed from master to apprentice over generations.

Also in the Gallery: a limited‑edition Archibald armchair reimagined by American artist Shepard Fairey, titled Delicate Balance, displayed under Zumtobel’s museum‑style lighting. And new additions to the Beautilities collection, including the “Shiwa” vases made with Japanese ceramic artist Yuki Nara.

Throughout the exhibition, Poltrona Frau quietly advances its material philosophy. The colour palette draws from Pelle Frau® ColorSphere®, while the leather itself reflects a new evolution: lower‑environmental‑impact tanning processes, aligning heritage craftsmanship with contemporary sustainability.

In the courtyard, a large teak platform evokes a ship’s deck, where three LED walls project marine imagery. Dominating the space: the MC72 collection by Studio Paolo Ferrari – large sofas and coffee tables designed for yachts, produced by the Custom Interiors Business Unit.
