Unparalleled excellence in craftsmanship and innovation
FENDI Casa celebrates its 30th anniversary at the Salone Internazionale Del Mobile 2018, 30 years of an intense and fruitful relationship, symbolic of elegance, excellence in craftsmanship and continuous experimentation, which over time has defined the FENDI codes of living.
In 1988 Alberto Vignatelli and FENDI presented the first FENDI Casa Collection, proposing accessories with the vocation of decorating interiors in the same way that the Roman Maison approached fashion: a pioneering project in the luxury furnishing sector, which for the first time saw a Fashion House launching a global line of furniture and home décor accessories.
A contemporary aesthetics enhancing the most beautiful international residences, prestigious yachts and private jets, which has evolved in time while remaining faithful to its DNA yet always embodying the highest Made-in-Italy production.
Thirty years later, FENDI Casa celebrates this important anniversary, paying homage to three iconic products, each embodying one decade of the FENDI Casa Heritage, by reinterpreting them into new pieces, exclusively exhibited in the Luxury Living store in Via Durini 25, in Milan.
The first re-edited piece is the Cosima dormouse (1994), a living proposal of timeless elegance, characterized by soft volumes and deep-buttoned leather upholstery. Expression of a sophisticated style, it is reproduced with a seat upholstered in blue nubuck leather combined with the Claudio armchair and the Ripetta pouf.
The innovative essence of the FENDI Casa design is embodied by the Eros sofa (2004), which immediately became an icon of style for its versatility and balanced design, enhanced by its minimal line of the metal base. Initially presented with crocodile-effect leather upholstery in a delicate powdery shade, today it has been proposed with beige leather upholstery and contrasting blue details.
Finally, the new One sofa, a synthesis of stylistic rigour and contemporary composure and emblem of the impeccable FENDI Casa production of 2018.
In addition, FENDI celebrates this unique anniversary by presenting a new Made-To-Oder Capsule designed by Thierry Lemaire and conceived as an emotional journey within the FENDI Casa flagship store in via Montenapoleone, 3 in Milan.
This new Capsule redefines the concept of elegance, proposing sophisticated and eclectic designs as the Beaune table and console system and the Constantin project, made of a lamp and a sofa.
The geometric lines of the sofa create a corner design, accentuated by the asymmetry of the modules and the profile of the backrest which gradually narrows at the ends. It is defined by a series of overlapping elements which creates a balanced yet luxurious volume. The lowered armrests are fitted to seat maxi cushions.
An interiors flair which reflects suggestions joined to one another in an extremely coherent way, such as the choice of the plain hazelnut-coloured leather upholstery, in contrast to the sand coloured cotton velvet and combined with the texture of the decorative complementary items. The sofa is exclusively proposed with new Made-to-Order cushions created for the occasion in inlaid mink fur, a tribute to FENDI’s iconic FF logo, designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965 and a skilful expression of the FENDI unique savoir-faire in the art of fur.
The New Capsule Collection Designed by Thierry Lemaire
In its constant quest for expressing a contemporary lifestyle, FENDI Casa presents its new Capsule Collection designed by Thierry Lemaire, French architect, designer and decorator,at the Salone Internazionale Del Mobile 2018 in Milan.
This new Capsule, consisting of the Constantin sofa and lamp and Beaune table and console, redefines the concept of elegance with a sophisticated and eclectic touch. A design experience in which each element is a perfect synthesis of Italian style and French decorative art, a celebration of architecture and aesthetics.
“In conceiving this new capsule collection for FENDI Casa I took inspiration from the exceptional heritage which characterizes FENDI’s history. Every detail of the Roman Maison’s collections tells a story of high-profile craftsmanship, skilfully sculpted materials and innate creativity. Values which are also reflected in my work: hence I have chosen minimal lines and a sober and, at times, uncommon design, in which materials enhance style. I have combined leather and velvet with fur and metals and wood with rare marbles. Fashion and design are two very close creative fields and it was stimulating to create domestic furnishings able to blend the values of both and raise them to new heights”, says Thierry Lemaire.
An emotional path which runs through the FENDI Casa flagship store in Via Montenapoleone,a location able to recount the dualism which distinguishes the work of Thierry Lemaire. Inside what is a prestigious historical ambience, each room is further enhanced by the iconic furnishings which the designer has conceived for FENDI Casa since 2013. From the Artù seating system, sofa and armchair, to the Fleurette coffee table, from the Faye suspension lamps to the more recent Pastille low tables.
Harmonious, refined, unexpected: these are the words which best describe the designer’s traits, translated into objects, similar to sculptures in which appears an innate sense of proportion. Style is clear and calibrated, defined by unexpected blends of volumes and materials, simple and precious, rough and smooth. As in the case of the Constantin sofa, with its large proportions, in which the study of forms describes a solution for the contemporary living area, with streamlined and modern lines. As simple in its leather and velvet upholstery, as it is rich in the new mink fur cushions inlaid all-over with the iconic FENDI FF logo, a tribute to the heritage of the Roman Maison.
Unexpected contrasting effects are also underlined by the use of metal, skilfully combined with fine woods such as rosewood and black walnut in the Beaune console. But it is in the namesake table that bronze metal becomes a distinctive feature, used in the base as a structural element and to mark the monolithic surface of the top, made of rare white panda marble featuring white shades and magnificent black nuances.
Thierry Lemaire sketches out a line of couture furnishings with a timeless style, emblematic of the classicism of tomorrow, which brilliantly interprets apparent architectural sobriety, a magnificent reinterpretation of FENDI traits translated into a complex and precious project.
The new Capsule Collection will be available only as a Made-to-Order.
The Constantin Sofa
Constantin is a sofa with modern geometries: the sharp lines outline an angled architecture, accentuated by the asymmetry of the modules and the profile of the backrest progressively slimmed at the ends. It is defined by a series of overlapping elements which create an effect of volumes, measured and rich at the same time. The lowered armrests are applied to the seat cushion in generous proportions. A piece of furniture that reflects suggestions connected with extreme coherence, such as the choice of the upholstery in hazelnut-coloured leather, in contrast to the sand-coloured cotton velvet, combined with the texture of the decorative complementary items: The new cushions are a tribute to the iconic FENDI FF logo, designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965, and created for the occasion in inlaid mink fur, a skilful expression of excellent and unique savoir faire in the art of fur.
The Constantin Lamp
Constantin is completed by a namesake table lamp with an elegant silhouette in the same style as the collection. The structure is developed from two thin palladium-finished steel joined together and which support the large cylindrical lampshade made of Abaca fibre white fabric. The curved base and the incision inside the structure give this lamp a refined and slender appearance.
The Beaune Table
Beaune is a large table with a sleek design and clean volumes. A sculptural piece of furniture created by combining contrasting materials, enhanced by excellent craftsmanship. The two cylindrical bases with bronze finish metal covering support the top made up of an imposing slab in rare oriental panda white marble. Slightly flared along the perimeter, the white stone surface and black nuances are marked by subtle metallic intersections coordinated at the base; this accentuates the dynamic features of the project. A precious, harmonious, elegant solution, a revelation of FENDI Casa’s art de vivre.
The Beaune Console
Beaune also includes a namesake console. A complementary item designed for lounge settings and to embellish contemporary residential ambiences, perfectly poised between minimalist rigour and warm materials. The top is made of dark rosewood with a glossy finish, in contrast to the structure in walnut. The legs, mirroring each other and with their sinuous geometry, are connected by a monolithic bronze metal element positioned with rationality within the project.
