Aesthetic Proportions: Stone and Metallic Accents in Modern Lines

by chxadmin

Decorated by Hoe & Yin Design Studio, this 4,000 square-foot lakeside villa contains an orderly arrangement of modern lines framing expanses of stone and reflective surfaces.

An open layout is maintained on the ground level of this home, with contrasting textures and colours used to define spaces in lieu of physical separation. The seating area at the front of the home is grounded with a plush shag carpet and framed with a modular sofa set in grey; the footprint of this space is additionally indicated by the recess on the ceiling. A television is mounted on the imposing slab of black granite that is set into a wall of reflective panels. The horizontal orientations of the white streaks in the black granite seem to direct attention to the rest of the ground level reflected in the mirrored panels.

Just a mere step away is the dining space, marked by a carpet with more linear streaks of colouration contrasting against the subtle tufts of the seating area carpet. The modern dining table is an unassuming statement in simplicity; its straight edges complementing the accompanying grey upholstered dining chairs and illuminated by the box light hanging overhead. The dining area is bathed in an abundance of natural light streaming in through a set of ceiling-height glass panes frosted with oriental lines.

Distinct Finery: The separate areas on the ground floor of this home are neatly arranged among an abundance of straight lines that help to define the spaces and lend sharpness to the refined décor.

Adjacent to the dining area is the wide expanse of the kitchen, where cabinets with reflective panels line the walls and reflect the length of the open floor plan on itself to effectively double the perceived space. A length of white marble is mounted in the centre of the kitchen and accompanied by bar stools in wood to serve as additional dining space.

The bedrooms on the upper floor are stately spaces brought to luxurious heights with furnishings of contemporary design – with each room containing an elegantly back-lit and unique slab of stone acting as the headboard. The headboard in the master bedroom is a ceiling-height panel of white marble with thick black streaks while one of the other bedrooms pictured here features a panel of granite streaked with intermingling shades of brown and grey.

Stone Accents: The master bedroom features a back-lit, ceiling-height slab of white marble with robust streaks in black as the headboard. The shag carpet mimics the headboard with swathes of dark grey fibres on a pale background. The bathroom presents a pair of white vessel sinks mounted on a stone countertop.
