Professors Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee, the founders and distinguished architects of the Thai firm Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS design and research, widely known as HAS design and research, have been honored with one of the most important recognitions at the MFID Awards 2026 in Malaysia. Their acclaimed project, Aluminum Grotto and Public Ground, received top distinction, marking a significant achievement on the international design stage for their clients S-ONE Group, KIN Thailand, TTF International Company, and The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage. Widely regarded as leading voices in contemporary architecture, the duo has built a reputation for pioneering work that merges research, material innovation, and spatial experimentation. This latest honor further strengthens their influence, recognizing not only the project’s striking visual identity but also its thoughtful engagement with public space.

Aluminum Grotto and Public Ground stands out for its bold use of aluminum, transforming the material into a fluid architectural language that interacts with light and human movement. The project demonstrates a strong sensitivity to context while introducing a refined and forward-thinking design approach.
“The project exemplifies an innovative integration of material and spatial experience,” said Iko iN, MFID Awards Jury Chair.
The MFID Awards are known for celebrating excellence across the global design community. Receiving a top prize underscores the significance of Professor Jenchieh Hung and Professor Kulthida Songkittipakdee’s contribution and highlights the growing impact of Southeast Asian architects on the world stage. This recognition marks a major milestone for the Bangkok-based firm Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS design and research, reinforcing its position as an innovator shaping the future of architecture through visionary and socially responsive design, with photography by DOF Sky|Ground.
