Picket House, a project designed by One Earth, breathes new life into an old terrace home in the Klang Valley, seamlessly blending modern aesthetics with functional living spaces. The renovation aims to transform the property into a spacious, light-filled sanctuary, while incorporating elements of nature to evoke a sense of tranquillity.
A clean, white palette defines the exterior, complemented by grey tiled roofs that give the façade a contemporary yet understated charm. Step inside, and you are greeted with a warm minimalist theme where natural materials take centre stage. The wood flooring adds a touch of organic warmth, balancing the crispness of the white interiors.
One of the standout features of Picket House is the indoor courtyard, ingeniously positioned beneath a unique stairway. This architectural highlight features floating steps with slim railings, creating a sense of lightness and fluidity. The white walls surrounding the courtyard are brought to life with bold accents of deep blue, a striking contrast that elevates the overall design.
In the kitchen, simplicity reigns supreme. White cabinetry and a matching backsplash ensure the space remains consistent with the home’s theme. The use of plants throughout the property infuses a refreshing ambience, connecting the interior to the outdoors and softening the minimalist lines.
A particularly innovative feature is the rooftop balcony, an adaptive reuse of the roof space. This outdoor area offers sweeping views of the neighbourhood and serves as a serene retreat for relaxation or social gatherings.
