Forest Urbanism, introduced in 2017, re-examines the relationship between cities and forests. The homeowner, working in finance, sought a retreat from his high-pressure life. Designer Zeng Rui used natural wood tones, rough stone, and plush furnishings to create a calming space.
The basement includes a workspace, tea room, and dry landscape garden, with large glass panels framing lush greenery. The tea room offers a serene social setting, while the first-floor living room, with stone accents and a faux fireplace, balances movement and stillness. A winding garden path ensures privacy while evoking a traditional courtyard. The children’s rooms reflect their personalities—an astronomy theme for the son and a dreamy, animal-filled retreat for the daughter.
