Bright Beginnings: Minimalist Transformation of a Parisian Apartment

by creativehomex

Located on the 6th floor of a 1930s building in Paris’s 20th arrondissement, this 93m² crossing apartment designed by Heros Architecture enjoys unobstructed views and abundant natural light. Its recent transformation involved a complete reconfiguration, erasing previous partitions and finishes to establish a clean, neutral base. The once-divided layout was opened up, with white resin flooring replacing old carpets. The result is a luminous space that functions as a vast reflector, enhancing the light and creating a serene, gallery-like atmosphere.

The spatial arrangement is defined by three sculptural elements. First, a central wooden core floats in the middle of the apartment, detached from both ceiling and structure. This striking, warm-toned feature anchors the space and creates a buffer between the living areas and wet zones. It also forms the entry sequence, around which all other rooms are organised.

The second key piece is a long, multifunctional wall unit stretching from the living room to the bedroom. Designed for utility, it incorporates a retractable bed, wardrobe, shelving, and concealed storage. Vertical elements, subtly set back and split, introduce visual rhythm while hiding heating, lighting, and electrical systems—ensuring a refined appearance and spatial depth.

Lastly, the kitchen island appears as a monolithic, white block. Though containing all essential functions, it deliberately masks its role, contributing to the minimalist aesthetic.
