The 54th CIFF Shanghai 2024, which successfully concluded last September, highlighted major advancements in China’s high-end furniture and interior design market. With a strong focus on premium design brands, the event offered curated activities for top interior designers and industry professionals, making it a key destination for the latest in luxury design. Here are the key highlights:

Design Eden’s Contemporary Design Trade Fair, themed “Colourful Life,” spanned 50,000 m² of exhibition space across Halls 4.1 and 5.1, featuring over 40 leading design brands. This vibrant exhibition showcased the latest trends in home design, blending creativity with commercial appeal to offer an immersive experience that celebrates innovation in modern living.

Around fifteen design events were held to explore relevant topics, providing information, inspiration, and new opportunities for networking and business.

Since 2015, the East Design Show at CIFF Shanghai has captivated young independent designers, establishing itself as a premier platform to turn creative visions into business. This year’s theme, “Ieleness,” introduced a relaxed, playful vibe, inviting visitors to explore the art of unwinding through innovative, smile-inducing designs.

The Grand View Tea Ceremony exhibition, themed “Zen Life,” celebrated Eastern elegance by merging traditional aesthetics with modern design. Held in Hongqiao, it showcased tea companies, utensils, spaces, and a Song Dynasty market. Visitors immersed themselves in authentic tea rituals and Zen culture, bridging ancient traditions with a refreshed lifestyle for today’s people.

The Design Dream Show (DDS) collaborated with “Listen to Lin” We-Media and 12 brands to create a whimsical “Dream Garden” themed “A Life of Perfection.” Featuring 170,000 pink daisy grasses, this imaginative space harmoniously blended diverse brands, celebrating life’s richness while emphasising each brand’s unique essence and value.

The Siza Theme Exhibition, curated by Liu Chunyi, celebrated the enduring legacy of architect Álvaro Siza. Showcasing rare sketches, models, and product designs, the exhibition offered a unique insight into Siza’s iconic, timeless works—designs that have shaped architecture and remain nearly impossible to replicate.

The Design Gravity Show, themed “Gravity,” united top designers and brands, exploring the “law of attraction” in design. With co-curated concepts and demonstrations, it created a dynamic space where innovation meets high-quality productivity.

The Limited IN exhibition celebrated the distinctive allure of premium furniture brands, uniting top domestic and international designers. Showcasing high-end craftsmanship and unique design philosophies, this event presented an exclusive glimpse into refined lifestyle offerings, creating an unforgettable experience for furniture enthusiasts and industry insiders alike.

The COOMO & CIFF International Soft Furnishings Area, co-created by CIFF Shanghai and COOMO, presented over 10 esteemed mid-to-high-end brands, including Villeroy & Boch, Limonta, Brabantia, and Riedel. Showcasing exceptional textile craftsmanship and premium imported fabrics, this event crafted a world-class home experience centre, blending elegance with top-tier household items.

The Italian Lounge was conceived by Edimotion and designed by AIPI (Italian Association of Professional Interior Designers) as an institutional exhibition space aimed at highlighting the value of Italian lifestyle and demonstrating how it can convey emotions and positive feelings to living, hospitality, and working spaces, contributing to an improved quality of life even in China. It was dedicated to promoting Made in Italy in China and creating new collaboration opportunities.

The Shanghai Office Life Theme Pavilion 2024 introduced “Design·Cloud Habitat,” inspired by traditional Chinese wooden architecture with elements like flying wing tile eaves and vertical wooden columns. This pavilion embodied modern office philosophy, promoting social interaction and integration. Through carefully curated layouts, furniture, and colour schemes, it created an inspiring workspace that balances creativity with productivity.

The CIFF Selected Show went beyond a mere showcase, serving as a vibrant hub for industry insights and trend forecasting. Participating brands gained extensive visibility, engaged with a targeted audience, networked with industry leaders, and collaborated with global trend experts to innovate and excel.
