The Business of Design Week 2024 (BODW 2024), Asia’s leading event on design, innovation, and branding, is set to take place from December 2 to 7, 2024, in Hong Kong. Organized by the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC), BODW 2024 will gather over 50 global leaders from the creative, entrepreneurial, and policy-making worlds. Together, they will explore how design-driven solutions can address complex global challenges and pave the way for a sustainable future.
The BODW 2024 Summit, themed “Inter/Section: Design, Artistry and Innovation”, will occur from December 4 to 6 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. With France as the Partner Country, supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Summit will feature dynamic discussions around the intersections of design, artistry, technology, and cultural exchange. This collaborative platform will spotlight innovations blending tradition and modernity, offering a space where East meets West, celebrating both local and global perspectives.
Some of the Key Summit speakers include Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio, Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, and Pansy Ho, an influential leader in heritage conservation in the Greater Bay Area. Check out their website for the full list of speakers and schedule. Discussions will span five central themes: Urban Futures, Brands & Retail Resurgence, Craftsmanship & Material Mastery, Culture & Digital Aesthetics, and AI & Future Tech. Each topic delves into how design impacts cities, brands, craftsmanship, culture, and technology, bridging art and practical solutions for business and society.
Prof. Eric Yim, Chairman of HKDC, highlighted the importance of partnerships at BODW, stating, “Together with France, we aim to foster a future where design acts as a bridge between cultures, inspiring innovation and meaningful change.” This year’s event also commemorates the 60th anniversary of China-France diplomatic ties, marking a unique opportunity to celebrate and enhance cultural and creative exchange.
BODW 2024 is further enriched by concurrent events like DesignInspire, the Business of IP Asia (BIP Asia), and Maison & Objet Design Factory. Anna Cheung from HKTDC expressed excitement about the event’s growth, noting its positive influence on Asia’s design industry.
