Initiated by the Guangzhou Design Week Media Alliance, Asian Youth Designers Programme is a significant media-driven program that goes far beyond the presentation of a single trophy. Through a curatorial and editorial lens, the program has long observed how emerging designers across Asia respond to life, culture, and the future amid a rapidly changing world. Each year, a nomination committee composed of leading professional media, design associations, and international organizations from both China and abroad selects one outstanding young designer from each Asian country or region—recognizing them as a representative figure of Asia’s new design generation.
The Light of Asian Youth Designers 2025 award ceremony was held during Guangzhou Design Week, bringing together designers and media representatives from across Asia. This year, Malaysian design studio DEzeno Sdn Bhd, represented on stage by Vincent Tan, was honored with the award for its high-end residential project, Wilson’s Residence.
Wilson’s Residence exemplifies the core values championed by Asian Youth Designers Programme—not design that seeks attention through form alone, but thoughtful, mature, and convincing responses rooted in real-life living contexts. Rather than relying on visual spectacle, the project demonstrates how spatial design can balance refinement, comfort, and everyday functionality with clarity and restraint.
As one of the co-initiating organizations of the award, iN DESIGN LAB is delighted to witness a design team we have long followed and are deeply familiar with being officially recognized on the Asian design stage. To be highlighted within China—one of the most important international coordinates of contemporary design—marks a meaningful milestone. We also look forward to this “light” continuing to guide more young designers from Malaysia toward broader horizons, allowing them to grow steadily and shine sustainably within the field they are passionate about.

From bespoke furniture to carefully selected premium materials, every detail exudes a subtle sense of quiet opulence. Through exquisite craftsmanship and a human-centered design approach, the project creates a residential environment that balances elevated aesthetics with functional living—serving not only as a refined home, but also as a sanctuary for relaxation and retreat.
