There’s much to adore in this home where simplicity and elegance take the lead. Located in Bukit Mertajam Penang, this 2,800 sqft home designed by Zeng Interior Design Space reflects a modern Zen concept which features a series of heartwarming elements. From the front entrance, the foyer already offers a very warm welcome, greeting visitors with its bright space and feature wall. Here, the space leads us towards the main living room which features a serene but down to earth concept, achieved through using a series of timber detailing and sleek surfaces. “We have also included exquisite materials in this home – for example, Travertino Hi-D wood,” say designers Yee and Maylene.

3Neutral tones are kept consistent in the living spaces and carry on beautifully towards the dining area. Next to the circular dining table that seats six, a mirror wall opens up the space while its accompanying wall covering anchors the entire space with an interesting texture-inspired touch. This treatment aligns the wall all towards the staircase, drawing us visually to explore the spaces upstairs. But before that, there’s still the kitchen to delve into. It is nothing short of sophisticated here, and it’s interesting how the neutral texture inspired treatment has also been applied in this space. Here, the black counter-top complements the pristine white cabinets while the graphic back splash adds on a visual focal point.

Upstairs, there’s something unique in each of the bedrooms. For the master bedroom, the designers have kept the theme earthy. A set of custom- made headboard and matching bed-frame highlights the room. In the girl’s and boy’s room, however, the designers chose bright tones (blue for the boy and pink and purple for the girl) to bring out the spaces.
