Bohemian Grove: ID Industries

by chxadmin

A shoe store in Putrajaya’s IOI City Mall forgoes the expected finishes of a stereotypical fashion boutique in favour of a heart-warming convergence of natural vibes and youthful mirth.

Designed by ID Industries, this shoe store presents an unpretentious front, with wall-hugging shelves of simplistic designs and low-profile window displays enabling an uninterrupted view into the far end of the space. The “brings” shoe store embodies an arboreal theme, exemplified with an expanse of laminated flooring mimicking wood, sprinklings of faux grass, and tree silhouettes presented in laser- cut decorative panels. The natural theme is presented against a cohesive background of earth tones, formed by walls dosed in various shades of brown, beige, and cream.

Eclectic Convergence: The “brings” shoe store presents a multi-faceted décor designed to appeal to the youthful, the mature, and the bohemian.

The wall-mounted shelving units further reinforce the countryside atmosphere with simplistic planks of whitewashed wood suspended by rawhide rope in the manner of the ubiquitous rural swing. The decorative influence of this country landscape icon is presented more overtly by the store front, where an actual swing hangs to evoke the curiosity of passing shoppers.

Complementing the bohemian ambiance are light-hearted bursts of pastel pink, blue, and green presented at the rear of the store – in a few decorative accents and shelving for a collection of shoes designed for more youthful souls. The juvenile facet of this store’s personality is expressed with restraint throughout the rest of the store so as not to overwhelm the naturalistic décor – a few child-sized pieces of furniture are scattered about the floor space to inject measures of colour into the predominately neutral-coloured background.

Not content with merely capturing the interests of flower children and free-spirited nonconformists, the “brings” shoe store presents a more conventional boutique personality at the centre of its floor space, where the grey fabric upholstery of a chaise lounge and matching foot stool take the central position, alongside modern pedestals displaying footwear suited for formal occasions.
