APIDA (Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards) is entering its 31st anniversary year and continues to give recognition to outstanding interior design projects and designers, promoting professional standards and ethics among interior design practices.
Organised by the Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) since 1992, APIDA aims to promote public awareness of interior design as an important aspect of everyday life, as well as acknowledge and give industry recognition to deserving projects and designers. This year, Creative Home is honoured to be one of APIDA’s key media partners.
The award is open to design professionals from all over the world, providing an excellent opportunity to gain worldwide recognition and public acclaim. By participating in APIDA, designers can showcase their talent, creativity, and expertise to a global audience.
Categories
APIDA has several design categories, including:
- Shopping Space: Shops, retail outlets, showrooms, department stores, food markets, shopping malls, kiosks, etc.
- Food Space: Cafes, bars, lounges, restaurants, canteens, food courts. etc.
- Work Space: Offices, studios, warehouses, factories, co-working space, etc.
- Institutional Space: Community centres, schools, kids playgroups, education/learning centres, libraries, hospitals, clinics, airports, public transport stations, government space, etc.
- Installation & Exhibition Space: Gallery, museum, trade exhibitions, sales offices provided by realty developers, art installations, public park installation, etc.
- Living Space: Apartments, private houses, etc. (800 sq. ft. or above)
- Leisure & Entertainment Space: Spas, swimming pools, casinos, clubs, cinemas/theatres, health/fitness centres, gyms, beauty centres, salon, game centres, theme park, etc.
- Hotel Space: Commercial hotels, budget hotels, city hotels, resort, service apartments, etc.
- Sample Space: Show flat provided by realty developers to create an environment on actual building site or offsite prototype to promote the sales of the property.
- Small Living Space: Apartments, private houses, housing developments, etc. (less than 800 sq. ft.)
- Student Design: Design project submitted by interior design/interior architecture student.
- Emerging Design Firm: Emerging Design Firm shall be corporations or firms holding an interior design / interior architecture practice in Hong Kong less than or equal to 5 years.
In addition to design categories, APIDA also recognises brand excellence in categories such as Bedrooms, Furniture & Finishes, Main Contractor, Smart Living, Ceiling, Home Appliances, and more. This acknowledgment extends beyond the design aspect and encompasses the brands and products that contribute to exceptional interior design projects.
Judging Process
APIDA follows a comprehensive judging process with a highly qualified panel of local and international judges from various fields, including business, professionals, and academics.

Entry Requirements and Deadlines
To participate in APIDA, designers need to submit their entries during the designated entry periods:
- Early Bird submissions: 28th April 2023 to 31st May 2023
- Regular submissions: June 2023 to 31st July 2023
All entries must be received before the deadline, as late submissions will not be accepted. There is also an entry fee for both members and non-members, with an Early Bird discounted rate available.
Winners Announcement
Winners of APIDA will be announced at the 31st APIDA Presentation Ceremony, and the awards serve as a testament to the outstanding achievements and contributions of the interior design community.
