Malaysian interior designer and iN Design Lab founder iko iN has partnered with home security brand NES Security Door to launch a collaborative entrance door that conceptualises security as a piece of ‘spatial sculpture’.
While entrance doors are frequently overlooked during residential renovations, the designer argues that a truly cohesive interior experience should begin the moment a resident steps across the threshold. Currently on display at the iN Design Lab, the new door combines NES Security Door’s protective engineering with a minimalist architectural aesthetic.

Geometric abstraction and shifting light
The design centers on a subtle, abstracted interpretation of the designer’s brand identity. “The design stems from a deep exploration of the iN brand soul,” said designer iko iN. By dismantling and reconstructing the linear forms of the letter ‘iN’ within the structure, the branding remains intentionally understated, inviting closer inspection.
The surface of the door features a warm, milky-white stone veneer, punctuated by repeating bevelled lines that create a gentle visual rhythm.

“It is a door that does not shout, yet remains unforgettable,” added iko. As light interacts with the crisp, angular grooves, it draws the eye upward, visually elevating the height and scale of the surrounding space. When the double doors are closed, the asymmetrical lines align precisely, creating a continuous geometric composition that subtly outlines the brand’s profile.

Precision engineering and high-end customisation
To realise the strict geometric tolerances required by the design, NES Security Door utilised high-stability core substrates to prevent warping and deformation over time.
“Our R&D focus for this collaboration was on the precise reproduction of line proportions and structural integrity, ensuring the final product matches the original blueprints with zero error,” explained CH Chow, Chief Operating Officer of NES Security Door.

“The surface undergoes a multi-layered finishing process that balances visual texture, daily durability, and strict environmental standards.”

According to Chow, the manufacturing process was designed to cater to both bespoke high-end customisation and scaled production. This allows the design to be implemented seamlessly across individual private residences or large-scale luxury developments without compromising on craftsmanship.
By reconsidering the traditionally utilitarian security door as a focal design element, the collaboration aims to redefine the threshold of contemporary premium homes, blending high-security engineering with an elegant sense of arrival.
