This contemporary interior is accented in urban-inspired tones from the darker side of the neutral palette.
A masterpiece by The Roof Studio, this terraced home presents an unobtrusive background painted in the dusky shades of the neutral palette to bring attention to the presence of live greenery. The open layout was largely maintained during the refurbishment of this home – with the sole exception being a display of wood and glossy black vertical slats presented at the foyer.
While the seating lounge presents a measure of subtle colour contrast between the blue-grey fabric upholstery and the smoky grey surrounding walls, this monolithic partition presents a high-contrast juxtaposition of shelving and vertical slats in black and pale wood. The striking contrast draws the eye over the subtle decorative textures of the seating lounge and further into the home.
The intermediate stretch of space between the seating lounge and kitchen hosts a dining arrangement of distinctly minimalist influence in both colour and form – a lightly treated slab of wood stands on flat steel legs. The prevalence of glossy white planes in this intermediate area help to extend the reach of sunlight from the far end of the open layout – where a wall perforated in modern style sends streams of natural light into the home.
