This family home utilises a subdued palette and furnishings in slim designs to preserve a sense of space and lend the ambiance a measure of tidy elegance.
An open layout is adopted on the lower level of this home decorated by Alvinterior, enabling sunlight to travel unhindered from the full-height windows of the seating area to the snug kitchen beside the foyer. The natural light is complemented by pale shades used throughout most of the home – with the exception of a few brightly-coloured accents limited to personalising the bedrooms.
The sleek profiles of this home’s furnishings help to maintain a refined space – an example being the wooden structure that serves as a decorative shelf for the foyer and as a bar counter separating the kitchen from the dining space. The glossy white front panels and backsplash of the kitchen seem to merge with the white walls from a distance, disappearing entirely when viewed from beyond the dining space.
The dining area is demarcated and doubled upon itself by an uninterrupted length of tinted reflective panels, its dark surface reflecting light and the sleek silhouettes of furnishings like a prism. The unassuming style and the lightly shaded wood of the dining area’s furnishings enable the eye to travel to the far end of the space, where an alcove is formed out of decorative wall features and shelving for a cosy seating area.
The lounge presents a breath-taking decorative feature composed of a raw concrete background framed by white panels and recessed lighting. The bare finish runs from the wall behind the television to the ceiling, creating a visual alcove along with the white wall and ceiling panels that frame the seating area in warm yellow light. A long, low-profile console composed of dark stained wood underscores this arrangement, providing the base for a black square pipe shelf that separates the white of the seating lounge walls from the black reflective wall in the dining space.
This home’s minimalist aesthetic extends to the upper floors, to the staircase landing hosting a home office that seems to float in mid-air. The study is enclosed in glass and black square pipe frames, providing an abundance of natural light and a wide view of the outside through the window panes of the stairway.
The minimalist décor gives way to personalised styles in the bedrooms: the master bedroom adopts classical accents in wall treatments and a lone armchair upholstered in red velvet, while the child’s bedroom contains a miniature house that acts as combination of bedstead alcove, shelving, and elevated play area.
