The Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023, held from 18-23 April, was a tremendous success with attendance up by 15% compared to the previous year. The event, now in its 61st edition, has always been a global hub of experimentation and cross-pollination. It provides an opportunity for exhibitors and visitors alike to reflect on the role and evolution of the trade fair system, creating a space for thought and culture generation.
This year, the Salone del Mobile.Milano featured three major innovations: a single exhibition level, a new Euroluce layout, and a wide-ranging cultural component in the lighting biennial spaces. The single exhibition level provided a consistent aesthetic, narrative, and reference target paths, enhancing the visitor experience and offering opportunities for the individual brands to meet and interact. The new Euroluce layout boasted an urban, loop-shaped path, allowing visitors to encounter all the exhibitors within just a few hundred meters, avoiding the frustration of missing out on something. The wide-ranging cultural component in the lighting biennial spaces consisted of multi-disciplinary content ranging from architecture to photography and art.
More than 2,000 exhibiting brands took part in the event, 34% of them from 37 different countries, including 550 young designers from 31 different countries, and 28 design schools and universities from 18 different countries. The visitor turnout was impressive, with 307,418 attendees recorded from 181 different countries. Significantly, 65% of the buyers and industry professionals had come from abroad, reaffirming the Salone del Mobile.Milano’s global appeal. China reclaimed its place as the top country after Italy, followed by Germany, France, the United States, Spain, with Brazil and India tied.
