This compact home is saturated in the classic tones of the Scandinavian palette and furnished with pieces of minimalist design to achieve an airy and lightweight décor.
The open layout of the ground floor, in this home designed by Stylecraft Design, presents a unified décor composed of colours applied in the style of Scandinavian interiors – with a largely monochromatic palette accented for vibrancy in yellow and green.
The view from the foyer presents an uninterrupted view facilitated by cream floor tiles, stretching from the seating lounge to the cooking space at the far end of the hall. The seating area is subtly demarcated with a length of wall composed of whitewashed brick and appointed with a largely plain decorative panel bearing simple geometry shaded in yellow and grey. The post industrial finish of the wall is complemented by a form-pressed wood coffee table of Scandinavian design, with a sofa and ottoman footstool upholstered in matching grey fabric to bolster the Nordic colour palette.
Accented Monochrome: The monochromatic palette is lent vibrancy with the addition of accents in the elementary hues of yellow, red, and green.
Enclosed by full-height windows on one side, pale wood shelving under the staircase, and black metal frames around glass panes, the dining area is furnished with a simple wood plane raised on minimalist black frames and accompanied by a monochromatic array of both vintage and modern dining chairs.
Mirroring the furniture of the dining space, a faux archway composed of black metal pipes framing glass panes leads to the kitchen. The kitchen retains the expanse of the ground floor with upper cabinetry in white and a backsplash bearing rectangular white tiles arranged in a repeating herringbone pattern, while the floor transitions to a darker brown tile for contrast.
Subtly Scandinavian: The key colours of the Nordic palette are lightly applied to the open ground floor, where an abundance of black pipes streak across a base dominated by cream tiles, whitewashed brick, and wood in pale shades.
The Scandinavian décor is transported to the bedrooms and to an additional seating lounge situated on a staircase landing of the upper floor. The upper seating lounge features an arrangement of furniture to reflect the seating area below, with a sofa set upholstered in grey fabric and a lone armchair composed of metal pipes coated in carbon. The coffee table here is similarly composed of pale wood, but rectangular in shape instead of circular to comfortably fit within the dimensions of the compact area.
Diminutively Framed: The furnishings in this home are of consistently lightweight design, with narrow profiles visible in the frames of black square pipes and the simple wood slabs projecting from walls.
Compact Suites: Despite being of relatively small dimensions, these bedrooms surprisingly include features intended for larger spaces such as decorative headboards – and in the case of the latter bedroom, an adjoining desk.
