A sophisticated yet cosy atmosphere ensues in this 850 sqft bachelor pad in Ara Damansara, thanks to its dark contemporary palette.
Designed by IQI Concept, this compact home features an elegant composition of spatial components, which works immensely well with a meticulous selection of monochromatic hues, wood elements, and sleek gold accents.
In the living area, warm wood flooring and light grey walls provide a contrasting backdrop to the dark finishing on the cabinet surfaces. In the centre, a light grey sofa balances the solid dark tones while polished surfaces and gold trimmings lend an elegant feel to the entire setting.
A clean and clutter-free look is vital to maintain the edgy sophistication theme. Thus, the designers incorporated storage cabinets into the grey textured TV panel to keep the space looking chic and organised. In the evening, concealed lighting from the cabinet niches and ceiling gives the space a cosy glow.
Next to the sofa set is a black island with gold pendant lights right above the smooth counter. “We were aiming for a dark, elegant vibe, while conserving space,” the designers remark. “Hence we put in an adjacent island, which doubles up as a dining area.”As a complementary component that echoes the key palette, the island beautifully demarcates the kitchen and living area.The open kitchen takes on an iconic all-black look, led by the reflective black backsplash and dark cabinetry. The result is an ultra-modern space that blends in with the rest of the dark-toned interior.
A few steps away, the home office features an L-shaped desk and wall cabinets to keep the room spacious. In place of a solid door, the designers opted for a glass sliding door. “The home office is mounted with a see-through glass sliding door. This allows light to stream in and illuminate the space,” the designers comment.
In the master bedroom, dark tones are present as well to maintain visual consistency throughout the home. “The monochromatic colour scheme in the master bedroom adds just the right amount of darkness and visual interest to the bedroom, a perfect place to unwind,” the designers say. Here, a black wardrobe complements the dark upholstered bed frame, while light coloured bedding provides a lush touch to the room.
“This bachelor pad is a great example of encompassing dark hues with various components into the interior,” the designers say. “All of these details make it a timeless and pleasing environment for the owners.”
