Milan-based design firm Mandalaki is reshaping the landscape of sustainable living with its innovative Monocabin series – a family of prefabricated tiny houses that seamlessly blend democratic luxury with the finest in Made in Italy design. These eco-friendly micro-houses, characterised by their compact yet highly functional layouts, offer a glimpse into a future where smart, high-quality living spaces are accessible to all.
Monocabin, in its various sizes, exemplifies Mandalaki’s commitment to intelligent design. From the smallest version at 27 square metres, currently finding a home in Padua, to the larger 49-square-metre model making a return to Rhodes, and the upcoming XL5 model (93 square metres) taking shape in the Californian desert, these tiny houses are versatile and adaptable to diverse environments. The construction process ensures that buyers with a plot of land can have their fully equipped and furnished house ready in less than three months after necessary inspections and checks.
By offering tiny houses that are both affordable and environmentally conscious, the firm is extending the reach of luxury living to a wider audience. Each dwelling is not just a structure; it’s a carefully curated design project. The interiors feature high-quality Made in Italy furniture, including Coco-mat mattresses crafted from regenerated algae, Valcucine kitchens, Abet Laminati surfaces, Mandalaki’s own Halo Edition lights, Zieta accessories, and handcrafted furniture by Daniele Bolgan.
Large windows characterise Mandalaki’s tiny houses, allowing natural light to flood the interiors and seamlessly connect the occupants with their surroundings. The design incorporates the beauty of nature, ensuring that while inside, residents can enjoy a sense of immersion and privacy simultaneously. In the pursuit of conscious and sustainable design, Monocabin’s modules are designed with miniaturisation in mind, reducing their overall dimensions during transport and minimising the impact of CO2 emissions.
