Konnichiwa!!! Get inspired by Japanese design and innovations at Japan Design Week, happening from June 28 to July 2, 2023, at the prestigious Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) in Kuala Lumpur!
On the first day (June 28), this exciting event officially opened with a line-up of speeches and presentations by the organisers and selected brands. Culture Officer from the Embassy of Japan Mr Takahashi Daisuke, as well as special VIP guests were also present at the event.
The day then began with an enthusiastic welcome note by the emcee, setting the tone for an exciting day ahead. The audience was then treated to an inspiring welcome speech by the Founder of iN Publishers Iko In, who highlighted the importance of Japanese design in shaping our world.
Throughout the event, the stage was further graced by esteemed speakers from various renowned brands, each presenting their unique perspectives on design. The presentations showcased a wide range of topics, captivating the audience with innovative ideas, insightful discussions, and remarkable achievements in the field of design.
Ms Charmaine Choi, Head of Product Marketing at SHARP, took the stage to present “SHARP’s Award-Winning Designs. Celebrating 111 Years Of Innovation.” The captivating presentation provided an exclusive look into SHARP’s legacy of groundbreaking designs and the company’s commitment to innovation.
Next up, Ms Ayako, an Interior Design Consultant at Atelier Sube SDN. BHD., shared her expertise on “The Joy of Interior Design.” With her insightful presentation, she shed light on the transformative power of interior design and its ability to enhance the quality of life.
At noon, visitors were treated to a presentation by BeautyFoo Mall X Belega. Brand representatives Emily Yap and Mr Nobuo Koshiishi took the stage to discuss “I.W. Wave technology.” Their presentation delved into the revolutionary I.W. Wave technology, highlighting its impact on the beauty industry and its potential for future developments.
This is followed by Mr Shunya Taito, CEO of J BEAUTY SDN. BHD. Who delivered an engaging talk on “The Bridge Between Malaysia and Japan.” He shared insights into the cultural exchange and collaboration between the two countries, emphasising the role of design in fostering connections.
Ms. Akane Sasaki, Operation Manager of J BEAUTY SDN. BHD. went on stage next to share her insights about “Discovering the Elegance of Kyoto.” The audience was taken on a virtual journey to Kyoto, exploring the city’s rich heritage, traditional aesthetics, and timeless beauty.
Shortly after that, Mr. Fabian Teh Yeung Sern, a partner for Dr. Sheva Co., Ltd Japan, presented “Timeless Beauty from the Ocean Deep.” The audience was enthralled as he shared insights into the exquisite beauty derived from the depths of the ocean, inspiring new perspectives on design.
After the final presentation, attendees were treated to a delightful Japanese refreshment break, where they had the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and savour the flavors of Japanese cuisine, adding a cultural touch to the event. Everyone was also invited to check out the new products and innovations at the participating booths, which were beautifully set up across the spacious atrium space at BSC.
