IKEA enlists seven artists and designers for KONSTRUNDA collection

by creativehomex

IKEA has released KONSTRUNDA, a limited collection of furniture, textiles and decorative objects created with seven artists and designers to bring the spirit of collectible design into everyday homes.

The collection comprises 22 pieces, ranging from side tables and stools to glass ornaments, rugs, cushion covers, vases and mirrors. It went on sale in September 2026.

Liberated, happy and fearless

According to IKEA creative leader Karin Gustavsson, the project set out to ask what art is, what it can do and why it matters. The designers were briefed to bring art into the home, guided by three words: liberated, happy and fearless.

Each contributor approached the brief through a different theme, from companionship and imagination to surprise, play and emotion. The aim, IKEA said, was to take art out of the gallery and into the home in a more accessible form, while carrying some of the experimentation and individual authorship of collectible design into mass production.

Seven authors, one collection

London-based designer Andu Masebo created tubular steel side tables, lacquered pine stools and a doughnut-shaped vessel in mirror-polished stainless steel. Swedish designer Lisa Reiser contributed tabletop objects with fluid, futuristic forms in glossy lacquered glass.

Swedish designers Igor Holtermann and Ingrid Leander Berg worked together on overlapping palm motifs, applied to cotton cushion covers, a rug and a mirror. Emanuele Stamuli produced black-and-white objects based on graphic, totemic shapes.

Visual artist and IKEA in-house designer Akanksha Deo drew on Indian textile and craft traditions for a series of “companion” pieces. They include The Melting Pot, a polished stainless steel vessel; The Custodian, a stack of blocks with a mirrored centre informed by the Channapatna wooden toys of Karnataka; and Confetti Carol, a hanging tapestry in blue recycled polyester. Swedish designer Lisa Hilland completes the group of seven with an orange arched decoration that swells from one side to the other, and a pine stool with a scalloped, flower-like seat raised on wooden cylinders of varying lengths.

Availability

In the UK, prices start at £19 for a vase and reach £149 for a side table. In China, the collection launched as a limited release in IKEA’s Shanghai stores. In Malaysia, KONSTRUNDA pieces are listed on IKEA Malaysia’s website, with stock varying by store.
