TURN DESIGN INTERIOR HAS ONCE again succeeded in stylishly expressing their flair for dark palettes – this time at D Empire Brasserie, an Italian restaurant at Main Place, USJ. Designed by Jeff Lee and Cherie Chuah, the restaurant takes on TDI’s signature style that combines strong solid shades, raw materials and retro-industrial theme in a fashionable manner.
In the main area, Jeff and Cherie have allocated a few different areas for dining and conversation, which results in a play of different materials and colours. Towards the centre, divider screens give individual tables a sense of privacy, while a long couch is flanked against the graphic wall affording more dining spaces. Tucked at the corners, we see a combination of sofas to create intimate conversation spots.
The entire space is dominated by brick surfaces, some left in their earthy red tones, while some are painted in white. Bold colours are used minimally – but they pop out where they matter. For instance, the turquoise sofas punctuate the neutral palette, while paintings on the wall take on shades of pinks, yellows and purples to inject a vibrant mood without being too loud. Here and there, colourful art prints and decorative objects are also used to create a chic ambience at different corners and nooks.
