Whispers of Peace: A Tranquil Home with Japandi and Morandi Inspirations

by creativehomex

Bu Bu House by Goflex Design & Reno, infuses Nordic warmth, Japanese simplicity, and the artistic inspiration drawn from Giorgio Morandi’s iconic colour palette into a cohesive interior theme. This residence artfully blends the concepts of ‘Hygge’ and Wabi-sabi, embodying a fine-tuned sanctuary where imperfection meets beauty.

The central theme of Bu Bu House revolves around the concept of Japandi, a fusion of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian functionality, with inspirations by Giorgio Morandi, an Italian painter known for his muted colour palettes and still-life compositions. The design intentionally incorporates Morandi’s colour sensibilities, creating a unique and cosy aesthetic that resonates throughout the residence.

Upon entering, one is greeted by a light skirting on the floor, casting a warm glow that immediately establishes a laid back ambiance. The intentional use of cement-based Pandomo flooring complements the open, high ceilings and seamless interiors, contributing to the overall minimalist and clean visual.

A significant challenge was transforming the owner’s desire for luxury into a concept rooted in natural and peaceful environmental elements. The design successfully navigates this challenge, offering a luxurious experience not in opulence but in the simplicity and tranquility found within the harmonious coexistence of Japandi and Morandi-inspired aesthetics.

This project is an A’Design Award Runner-Up for Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category in 2020
