Italian furniture brand Desalto redefines modular storage with its latest innovation, the Rebus sideboard, a sculptural, magnetic system that transforms home organization into a game of creative assembly.
Inspired by the iconic logic and geometry of Tetris, Rebus allows users to freely configure their own personalized storage layouts using a series of interlocking metal modules in varying shapes and sizes. But what truly sets Rebus apart is its revolutionary connection technology, the modules require no screws or traditional fasteners, relying instead on 5mm micro-magnets to achieve structural integrity and seamless alignment.

This magnetic design not only enhances the ease of assembly, eliminating tools and hardware, but also contributes to a clean, minimal aesthetic. The result is a storage system that feels simultaneously high-tech, tactile, and playful.
With Rebus, we aimed to rethink the boundaries of modular furniture, says Desalto’s design team.
It’s not just a piece of furniture, but an interactive object, one that invites creativity and self-expression.

Blurring the lines between object and experience, Rebus transforms the often mundane act of furniture assembly into an act of design improvisation. The piece has already garnered significant interest from the international design community, positioning Desalto at the forefront of playful minimalism and functional innovation.
