Discover a hidden green gem right in the heart of the city and be impressed with Container Hotels’ efforts in giving back to the community.

01 Keeping with the eco theme, the Container Hotel signboard is made of repurposed oil drums.
A city bustling with life, it is no surprise that Kuala Lumpur is a well known tourist hub. It is a city where historical heritage buildings are found amidst a sea of modern skyscrapers and also where one of the tallest buildings in the world stands. Undeniably, this metropolis houses plenty of impressive architecture but it is also home to a host of interesting architecture such as this quirky little Container Hotel.

02 Spot the bright pink war tanker right outside the hotel.
Located in the heart of the city the Container Hotel is situated along Jalan Delima, just off Jalan Bukit Bintang. Unassuming from the outside, the first thing that catches your eye would be the bright pink war tanker placed right next to a clever little signage made from oil drums, and this fits in perfectly with the hotels theme as it is an eco-friendly hotel that emphasizes on going Green, Sustainability and promoting Art Design.
“The idea of Container Hotel was inspired by the concept of “Kyosho Jutaku” which means living large on a tiny footprint in Japanese.“

03 Have a drink at the Chatime which is also inside a container.
Now, containers are not used solely for shipping goods as we have seen them used as temporary offices at construction sites but the idea of turning them into a hotel is the first of its kind in Malaysia. The idea of Container Hotel was inspired by the concept of “Kyosho Jutaku”. In Japanese, it means living large on a tiny footprint, by building a nice and compact house utilising only a very small space.

04 Metal plates with various patterns break the monotony of the cement floor.

05 The Conservative room is kept clean and simple with an all white interior.

06 The Adventure room is warm and inviting with a wooden interior.
Made up of a row of two containers stacked on top of each other, the hotel offers three types of rooms – Outgoing, Adventure and Conservative. Outgoing is a dorm style room for sharing with up to 4 people, Adventure features a super single mattress in a cave-like container while Conservative comes with a twin-sized bed. Surprisingly roomy, each container comes with an attached bathroom, air conditioning as well as complimentary wireless internet access for your comfort.

07 A little imagination turned concrete pipes into the Adventure room.

True to its green concept, the hotel kept décor to a minimum with cement floors and recyclable materials to reduce carbon footprint. The ‘lobby’ consists of a reception counter as well as waiting area, both of which are made from cement. As plain cement floors can appear a tad dull, the designers used metal plates with various patterns to break the monotony.
