The My Favourite International Design Award (MFID) 2026 concluded successfully with a prestigious award ceremony held at the Sunway Putra Hotel Ballroom, Kuala Lumpur, gathering more than 300 distinguished guests from the global design and furnishings industry.
Organised by iN Publishers and iN Design Lab, MFID continues to strengthen its position as Malaysia’s only international design award platform, recognising outstanding achievements in residential and commercial design across borders.
The elegant evening brought together leading architects, interior designers, brand leaders, international media representatives and industry professionals from multiple countries, creating a vibrant platform for celebrating design excellence and fostering global industry connections.
A Truly International Design Platform
As Malaysia’s only international design award, MFID attracts submissions from across the region and beyond, evaluated by an esteemed International Judging Panel comprising global design media leaders, publishers, editors and industry experts from Europe, Asia and other regions. The panel’s international diversity ensures that every project is evaluated through a global design perspective, reinforcing MFID’s credibility as an international recognition platform.
This year’s competition saw an exceptional level of participation and design quality. Many of the submitted projects demonstrated outstanding creativity, innovation and professional execution, making the judging process both exciting and challenging for the jury.
Honourary Recognition for World-Renowned Architect Ma Yansong
A key highlight of the evening was the presentation of the MFID Honorary Award to internationally acclaimed architect Ma Yansong, founder of MAD Architects.
Widely recognised as one of the most influential architects of his generation, Ma Yansong’s visionary works — including the iconic Absolute Towers in Canada, the sculptural Harbin Opera House, and numerous groundbreaking architectural projects worldwide — have redefined the relationship between architecture, nature and contemporary urban living.
Although he was unable to attend the ceremony in person, Ma Yansong shared a special message expressing his appreciation for the recognition from MFID.
iDs’ Choice Awards: Recognition from the Design Community
Another major highlight of the evening was the presentation of the iDs’ Choice Awards, recognising outstanding brands selected through nominations and voting by professional interior designers.
These awards reflect the collective voice of the design community, honouring brands whose products and services have made meaningful contributions to the interior design and renovation industry.
A Gathering of Global Industry Leaders
The MFID 2026 ceremony welcomed an impressive international presence, with designers, architects, design media representatives and industry leaders attending from various countries.
With more than 300 invited guests, the evening reflected the growing stature of MFID as an influential design recognition platform connecting the global design community.
