In a showcase of creativity and innovation, CLV Glasstech recently held its first-ever Young Designer Award 2024 in Kuala Lumpur. Themed ‘Reflection of Creativity,’ the event celebrated pioneering glass furniture designs and signified a new chapter in Malaysian interior design. The competition, which took place, at iN Design Lab, Kl Eco City, was the first of its kind in Malaysia, offering a unique platform for emerging designers to exhibit their visionary ideas using glass and mirrors.

It was an eye-opening event, especially for design enthusiasts. Featuring ten promising designers who unveiled their works, the submissions included a rainbow-inspired table that displayed stunning reflections, modular furniture that catered to modern, adaptable living spaces, and a hydro harvester that exemplified sustainable design principles. Overall, the Young Designer Award 2024 underscored that the possibilities of using glass in design are boundless. From functional furniture to artistic installations, glass is poised to become a central element in the aesthetic evolution of living spaces.

For attendees, everyone had the opportunity to engage with a curated gallery of unique glass samples, providing a tangible experience of the material’s flexibility and potential. Looking ahead, CLV Glasstech announced plans to create job opportunities for young designers, fostering the development of the next generation of creative talent. The company is dedicated to making this competition an annual event, continuously driving growth and innovation in Malaysia’s design industry.

“We see these materials as blank canvases, ready to reflect individual imagination and transform any environment,” remarked Josh Chew, the visionary leader of CLV Glasstech.

Marketing manager Elaine Soh further heightened the excitement by unveiling CLV Glasstech’s new direction: the company is preparing to launch a range of artistic glass solutions aimed at reshaping the interior design landscape. “We’re not just producing products,” Soh emphasised, “we’re creating new opportunities for designers and homeowners alike.”

The judging panel comprised a panel of esteemed industry experts, including iKO iN, founder of iN Design Lab, Cayenne Lim, co-founder of A Moxie Associates Sdn Bhd, Alex Lee of Nu Infinity, and Josh Chew, COO of CLV Group of Companies, evaluated the competition entries. Their careful deliberations led to awards in four categories:
