Ink Design Space has masterfully orchestrated a symphony of space, light, and luxury in this stunning residential transformation. By merging two units into a single, expansive abode, the design team has created a haven of refined elegance and unparalleled comfort.
The design seamlessly separates public and private spaces. “We combined the two corner units, and while the public and private areas are distinct, guests remain in the public zone,” explains designer Kathy Chien. This spatial arrangement ensures that guests are welcomed in a dedicated area while family members can retreat to their private quarters.
The entrance vestibule, adorned with a mirrored wall, immediately sets the tone for the journey ahead. A curated selection of furnishings and accessories, including a floating shoe cabinet with integrated lighting, exudes both practicality and sophistication. Incorporating feng shui principles, a gentle curve in the hallway prevents visitors from seeing directly into the heart of the home.
The heart of the home, an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, is a testament to the designer’s keen eye for spatial flow. The seamless integration of a bar counter and dining table fosters a sense of connectivity, ideal for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations.
A full-height dark wood cabinet houses the refrigerator, maintaining a clean aesthetic. Paired with an induction cooktop and wine cabinet, this area becomes the perfect setting for entertaining guests. The expansive 3-meter dining table serves as the heart of the home, symbolizing shared moments and cherished memories.
“The choice of artwork, lighting, and decorative objects is guided by curved elements, creating a more cohesive and inviting atmosphere,” explains the designer.
Abundant natural light pours through three sides of the living room, illuminating the custom-made furniture. The television wall, the focal point of the space, is adorned with a striking natural marble slab featuring a dramatic black-and-white vein pattern.
“We took our clients to a marble factory in Tamsui to personally select this slab,” says the designer. “The flowing veins, reminiscent of a dragon’s head, bring a sense of auspiciousness to the space.”
The television cabinet seamlessly extends into a corner, maximizing storage space and visually elongating the room. The addition of a mirrored surface further amplifies the sense of space. “The living room is designed in neutral tones, with soft cushions and blankets adding warmth and comfort,” explains the designer.
The incorporation of wood elements and textured wallpaper creates a refined and elegant ambiance. The strategic placement of decorative objects and the interplay of light and shadow enhance the visual appeal of the space.
The younger sister’s bedroom is a serene retreat, bathed in soft, natural light. A warm, wooden floor, paired with pale wood cabinetry, creates a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. The headboard, adorned with an elegant gold pendant light, adds a touch of sophistication while maintaining a gentle ambiance.
Intricate molding details enrich the walls, providing depth and texture. The soft, velvety headboard further enhances the room’s cozy feel. The designer’s choice of a semi-transparent honeycomb blind, layered with a sheer curtain, allows for a soft, diffused natural light, creating a truly calming space.
In stark contrast, the older sister’s bedroom exudes a mature and sophisticated ambiance. Dominated by a rich, gray palette, the space is anchored by sturdy, dark wood elements. Subtle accents of black metal add a contemporary edge, delineating the room’s architectural details.
The designer explained, “The older sister desired a more subdued aesthetic, so we incorporated an abundance of gray tones, complemented by mirrored surfaces and metal trim to create a distinctive atmosphere.”
Continuing the gray theme, the ensuite bathroom features gray-toned tiles and a concealed light source that highlights the varying shades of gray. The designer noted, “Both the wall and floor tiles were carefully selected to create a visually dynamic and cohesive space, maintaining the overall gray palette while adding a touch of personality.”
The master bedroom is a testament to opulent living. The headboard features a striking, textured wallpaper with a mesmerizing interplay of blues and grays. Flanked by metallic accents and mirrored surfaces, the headboard exudes a sense of grandeur.
The velvet curtains, coordinated with the wallpaper, create a harmonious and unified aesthetic.
The ensuite bathroom is a spa-like retreat, complete with a freestanding, sculptural bathtub positioned near a window. A heated towel rack and a television cater to the homeowner’s desire for relaxation and entertainment.
Every detail, from the carefully chosen lighting fixtures to the bespoke furniture pieces, has been meticulously considered. The result is a home that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, catering to the needs of a modern family.
