WHITEWASHED, with varying shades of grey, the chosen palette for this 2,500sqft home is a courageous attempt to use cool tones to create a warm and welcoming abode – something seemingly contradicting. But Spazio Design’s interior designer Agnes Kang has pulled it off beautifully, utilising contrasting elements successfully. In the double-height living room, a serene atmosphere first greets us to slowly unwind on to the couch. From here, we are given quite a visual treat: the sparkling pendant-chandelier lights above, the stairways that dramatically ascend from the ground to the third floor, the family room on the first floor looking out towards the main living area and finally, our vision is led to the dining hall where an angled shelving unit capture our attention with its strips of light.

Just behind the angled shelves, the space opens up to the kitchen: an industrial-inspired space, complete with grey brick-clad walls on one side and raw concrete wall finishing in the wet kitchen – a complete contrast from the living room. Here, everything is kept to a uniform palette: grey and silver, except for the galaxy black kitchen counter which acts as a good highlight to the space’s appearance. A metal table with wire detailing anchors the space with a strong industrial style.

Upstairs, we see more evidences of the grey palette, used mostly for its soft furnishing like sofas, cushions and curtains. Some walls are painted a flat grey as well, complementing the all-white theme and wood flooring. Back on the ground floor, the exterior is commendable as well. A glass and metal pergola and garden furniture set the stage for pleasant outdoor living. This outdoor space is enveloped by lush plants, affording very serene and green views.
