Spark of Tranquility: Fusion of Japanese and Tropical Retro Elements in a Cosy Modern Condo

by creativehomex

This condo in TTDI, PJ designed by Pins Studio portrays a seamless fusion of modern tropical and retro design concepts. The use of local materials, ingenious design solutions, and a keen eye for aesthetics create a home that exudes both comfort and style. It’s a place where you can relax, entertain, and escape into a world of tranquillity.

In the living room, a sleek sofa with a wooden frame takes centrestage. This elegant piece anchors the space, offering both comfort and a visual focal point. The wooden frame of the sofa seamlessly complements the overall design, creating a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or a good book.

Throughout the space, the palette leans heavily on the use of local materials, prominently featuring the exquisite nyatoh wood veneer finish. This choice of material imbues the space with a sense of warmth and cosiness, inviting you to unwind and relax from the moment you enter.

One of the most remarkable features of this condo is the kitchen, which draws inspiration from traditional Japanese sushi restaurants. The open countertop area is not only functional but also stylish, making it a delightful place for culinary adventures.

Originally, the kitchen had a dark and cramped layout with walls obstructing natural light and views of the living spaces. To transform the space, the designers ingeniously removed the walls and introduced sliding doors. This ingenious touch invites abundant natural light and fresh ventilation, creating an airy, spacious feel that seamlessly connects the kitchen to the rest of the home.

The master bathroom posed a unique challenge due to its tight layout. In a brilliant move, the designers relocated the washbasin from the bathroom to a corner in the master bedroom. The blue-painted finish of the washbasin counter, combined with the adjacent nyatoh wood door concealing the bathroom, exudes an artistic and retro vibe. This design choice adds character to the bedroom while maximising the use of space in the bathroom.

Throughout the condo, custom-made furniture plays a significant role in enhancing the interior design. These bespoke pieces not only offer functional solutions but also serve as integral components of the overall aesthetic. Each piece has been thoughtfully crafted to complement the condo’s natural sunlight, ventilation, and lush greenery.
