Open kitchens can be hardworking and good looking at the same time. These open-plan kitchens show how careful details and creative ideas effectively bring cook spaces to life.

PRACTICAL AESTHETICS
Thoughtful design details distinguish this stylish open kitchen designed by SQFT Space Design Management from ordinary dry kitchens. We love how the timber drop-down shelving decoratively aligns with the shapely counter while giving the owners additional space to store their cookware. Moreover, it blends in with the adjacent living room, balancing the form and palette.

Top Tip!
When it comes to open kitchens, put in a sturdy hood to minimise the smoke and grease that come from cooking.

FORM AND FUNCTION
Designed by IDs Interior, the unconventional island countertop in this open kitchen definitely takes the spotlight with its irregular angled shape. The white palette adds on an ethereal quality to it, harmonising with the home’s overall lightweight theme. Notice the artfully made shelving on the opposite wall – truly an ingenious way to give the space a perfect finale!

Top Tip!
If the palette in your open kitchen gets a tad too
monotonous, create contrast – for instance, use reflective surfaces in darker tones to highlight the space.
