MoMA, the Museum of Modern Aluminum Thailand, was created to revive the country’s aluminum industry, which collapsed after the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. Once Southeast Asia’s largest aluminum manufacturer, Thailand saw its urban landscape filled with chaotic commercial signs and structures. Located on a key commercial road linking The Grand Palace, Bangkok University, and Ko Kret, MoMA addresses this transformation.

Designed by JENCHIEH HUNG and KULTHIDA SONGKITTIPAKDEE of HAS DESIGN AND RESEARCH, MoMA serves as both a public space and an urban sanctuary. Its swaying aluminum façade, inspired by dandelions and fireflies, filters noise and sunlight while unifying architecture, interior, and landscape. The flexible exhibition space supports various activities, with a rooftop dedicated to urban ecology.
