On the silver screen, black-and-white images flow seamlessly as the enchanting melody of jazz music echoes through the air. The 1920s marked Hollywood’s golden age, an era where cinematic artistry and fashion aesthetics intertwined to create an enduring legacy. The WLEA Interior Design team has meticulously crafted this villa to evoke the grandeur, sophistication, and timeless allure of Hollywood Regency style, bringing classic cinematic opulence to life.
🏆 Winner of the 2024 MFID iNternational Best Luxury Modern Home Design
This case embraces luxurious elements, featuring a striking black-and-white checkered floor, complemented by deep sapphire blue walls accentuated with delicate metallic trim. The fusion of artistic elegance and modern refinement paints a lavish portrait of Hollywood Regency’s golden days. Designed by Therasa for a well-traveled homeowner and their family of five, the residence seamlessly blends theatrical grandeur with a warm, inviting atmosphere—each space exuding the splendor of a cinematic masterpiece.
To recreate the iconic interplay of light and shadow, the designer extended the original balcony to incorporate it into the living area, transforming it into a welcoming space for social gatherings. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows replace the previous partitions, opening up expansive views while allowing natural light to flood the interiors. The soaring ceiling height, paired with grand velvet drapery stretching to the top, enhances the room’s sense of scale. A statement golden-bronze chandelier further elevates the space, encapsulating the essence of refined luxury.
“We selected textured blue materials for the feature wall to enrich the exotic ambiance,” notes the designer. The dramatic statement wall is adorned with Marmo Grande Italian sintered stone, where flowing blue and white veins intertwine with gold-lined patterns, creating a bold and majestic aesthetic. Metallic inlays add a radiant touch, while custom European-style furnishings exude modern sophistication and regal charm.
Stepping into the billiards area, a striking world map wall takes center stage, accompanied by black-and-white photography of iconic landmarks from the homeowner’s travels. “The billiards area is the ultimate reflection of the homeowner’s personality and story. Each landmark photograph has been intentionally converted into black and white, symbolizing treasured past journeys and memories,” the designer explains. To meet the homeowner’s vision, the former living room was reimagined as a dedicated entertainment space, where mirrored surfaces amplify the visual expanse while preserving the overall transparency of the interior.
In the dining area, symmetrical cabinetry lines both sides, embodying classic vintage elegance. A curated mix of a statement console, a sculptural round mirror, a marble dining table, and a European crystal chandelier elevates the ambiance, while carefully selected art pieces subtly exude luxury. The kitchen showcases white cabinetry with gold accents, offering an exquisite culinary space. “Originally, this area was a separate room, but to enhance spatial fluidity, we decided to remove the partition wall and create an open-concept kitchen,” the designer shares.
The elongated walk-in closet is meticulously planned to maximize both display and storage functions. An integrated dehumidifier ensures that luxury handbags remain in pristine condition, while full-length mirrors visually expand the space. The designer introduced a framed passage between the walk-in closet and the master bedroom, defining functional zones with architectural precision. Inside the master suite, “we incorporated decorative wall paneling to enhance the European aesthetic, along with titanium-plated metal trim to elevate the overall refinement,” the designer adds.
“We retained the original skylight to allow natural light to stream in, creating a bright and airy ambiance while promoting ventilation.” To accommodate a freestanding bathtub, the master bathroom was expanded, featuring a slatted ceiling design that invites natural light into the space. A bold Tiffany green vanity serves as a striking accent, harmonizing with metallic finishes and deep-toned natural stone patterns, crafting an atmosphere reminiscent of a high-end luxury hotel.
