The Export Furniture Exhibition 2020 (EFE 2020) is postponed to end of August 2020, with the exact date to be announced in due course.

The four-day trade exhibition was scheduled for 9 to 12 March 2020 in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) but following today’s Town Hall Meeting cum Voting by EFE Exhibitors, the organiser- EFE Expo Sdn Bhd through its Board of Directors announced this afternoon that EFE 2020 will be postponed to end of August 2020, in line with the wishes of exhibitors.

“In line with the exhibitors’ wishes, an overwhelming 84% of exhibitors present have voted to postpone the March 2020 EFE exhibition to end of August 2020. The EFE Board of Directors and I are certain that end August is the appropriate time to organise EFE 2020 as buyers would have concluded exhibiting at Las Vegas Market and before heading to Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai to source in August and September 2020 respectively,” said Mr Chua Chun Chai, Chairman of EFE.

Mr Khoo Yeow Chong, President of Malaysian Furniture Council (MFC)- on the new August 2020 date for EFE, “I hope that the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) will declare August 2020 as Malaysia Furniture Week. Malaysian furniture industry players are of the opinion that the industry will stand to benefit from buyers’ visit and sourcing in August 2020 and welcomes Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) to consider rescheduling MIFF 2020 to August”.

The President of MFC added: “EFE is traditionally held in March annually to cater to the sourcing needs of international buyers, whom will also schedule visits to other furniture exhibitions in South East Asia and China. However, due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, exhibitors, visitors and stakeholders have expressed apprehension to proceed with a March 2020 exhibition date citing weak demand and market uncertainty.”

Daniel Ho, Deputy General Manager of EFE added, “EFE caters to the furniture industry and has served Malaysian furniture manufacturers with a trade platform to do export and expand their businesses globally. We would like to thank the exhibitors and visitors for their kind understanding and any inconvenience caused is regretted. We look forward to welcoming all exhibitors and trade visitors to EFE 2020 later this year”.
