The owners of this Park Avenue apartment in New York City, the Sonnenscheins came to designer Danielle Colding through the Chair of the Interior Design Department at her alma matter FIDM. For this apartment, Danielle once again showed her design capacity to transform spaces with her signature style.
The family was relocating from a big family house in Pasadena to this NYC dwelling and they needed downsizing in terms of space. However they wanted something luxurious and a beautiful relaxing space that is contemporary and colourful.
The clients had a cool Californian vibe that Danielle ingeniously translated into the home. They were easy to work with and they had a unified idea of what they wanted. They also had a lot of furnishings in storage as the previous owner had left a number of quality pieces behind. In all, there were a lot of work with and choose from.

The key part of the design of this apartment was the Sonnenscheins’ extensive art collection. It serves as the starting point for every room. From here, Danielle developed the colour palette and furnishing plan to make it work. Modern lighting is also incorporated to afford a more contemporary look, which balances the classic Park Avenue style of the apartment.
