Schneider Electric Malaysia offers RM22,800 in total cash prizes for top 3 winners from Professional and Non-Professional Categories each.

Schneider Electric Malaysia, the global specialist in Digital Transformation of Energy Management and Automation in Homes, Buildings, Data Centers, Infrastructure and Industries, recently held the “World’s Smallest Masterpiece Contest”, in conjunction with the launch of their inaugural AvatarOn series.

AvatarOn is Schneider Electric’s extensive range of customisable switches that integrate easily into every interior styles thanks to its wide variety of covers including plastic, wood, metal, marble, leather and DIY customisable and printable covers.

To excite and motivate professional and amateur participants to unleash their creativity and imagination, Schneider will be giving out RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM800 respectively to the first, second and third place winners from the Non-Professional category. The top three winners for the Professional category stand a chance to bring home RM10,000, RM5,000 and RM2,000 respectively.

“The objective of this contest is to provide a platform to explore the artistic expressions of Malaysians above 16 years old. When people think of switches, they would not necessarily think how any creativity would contribute in the process of designing them. But we at Schneider see it very differently. Switches are part of our lives. Just because they are functional does not mean that no creative thought has been ingrained in its process. We want to educate the young generation in understanding the mechanics and design of switches, so that they would be more aware of the spaces in which they live, study, and work,” said Schneider Electric Malaysia Business VP Retail, Mr Francis Heng.

The “World’s Smallest Masterpiece Contest” ran from 1 March 2018 to 30 April 2018, and received a total of 1,074 entries nationwide, from students and professionals alike. Participants were required to come up with their own creative designs on an 85mm X 85mm canvas, measuring up to the size of AvatarOn switch covers.

Winners will be selected from top 10 shortlisted entries via a live judging session during the 19th International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX).

The finale of the contest will be held on the 6th of July 2018, in conjunction with the 19th International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, where the top 10 short-listed entries will be showcased and judged live at Schneider Electric Malaysia’s booth.

Winning designs from each category will be featured as part of Schneider Electric’s exclusive AvatarOn collection.

“We are thrilled to have received creative entries from remarkably talented students and professionals, and we are happy to be able to provide this platform to nurture talents. Schneider Electric is committed in the country’s talent development as we gear towards growing local talent pools. This creative exercise requires concentration, attention to detail, good understanding of colour composition, and the ability to visualise designs. Most importantly, we hope to spark creative expressions and focus on how the smallest things can make a big change in life,” said Mr Heng.

Among the participating schools of the contest are INTI Center of Art and Design, First City University College, Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara, The One Academy, Malaysia Institute of Arts and Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang.
