THIS EXQUISITE EXAMPLE of contemporary design with distinctive Eastern influence comes to us from the designers of Hoe & Yin Design Studio. Far from looking all traditionally Chinese with the usage of glossy gold and red lacquer, you can see the designers use a warmer shade of grey in the living room to create a modern looking interior. This welcoming and cozy colour palette dances over the bold black TV panel, playing beautifully against the gentle wood tones from the parquet flooring. Not wanting the space to appear bare, the designers chose an oriental geometric pattern feature wall to go with it.
Sharing the same space with the living room, the dining area appears simply stunning with a marble top dining table complemented by a set of wooden Chinese chairs. The mirror feature in the dining area lends a magnificent view of the living room. Apart from softening the edges of the reflective glass feature, the back lighting also gives a warming glow to the dining space. Well-placed décor pieces also keep the oriental influence flowing throughout the space.
Meanwhile, the bedrooms display a perfect fusion of these two design concepts. Fine craftsmanship of woodwork and the incorporation of deity figurines in the design of the bedroom lamps simply spell an Asian charm. On the other hand, a high pile rug, sheer curtains and plaster ceiling in place of the usual selections of woven mat, bamboo blinds and wooden ceiling in a Chinese inspired interior, clearly reflect a modern contemporary interior design.
