Creative Home: Hi Gloria! So tell us what you’re doing in Malaysia?
Gloria: Well this time, my trip to Malaysia is all for the Malaysia International Film Festival and Golden Global Awards (MGGA). It’s Malaysia’s first time doing anything like this, so I’m so excited to be invited and be part of it.

CH: I’m sure you’ve been to plenty of film festivals and awards before right?
G: Yes, in Hong Kong there are so many types of film festivals. There’s a slightly different type of film culture wherever you go, as the art and culture itself is unique in every country. So being here, it’s good to see the way the film industry works, the way the directors and actors portrays things and bring out the message from the movie. The MGGA is an excellent platform for the region as well as locals, to promote the exchange of national film.

H: So, any chance we will see you take back the big screen?
G: At the moment, I’d say there’s a very little chance of that happening. Of course if there’s a good script I’d love to do it. Even if something pops up in theatre, I would like to do something there, as the acting is different from acting in front of a camera.

CH: Okay, so we’ll just keep hoping for a great role to come out for you! Can you talk to us about your home?
G: My home, it’s nothing fancy. Homes there [Hong Kong] are relatively small, so I kept things basic and comfortable in my home. If space wasn’t limited, then I’d definitely experiment with vintage designs, like classic European 18th century style.

CH: When it comes to interior design, what advice would you give?
G: Find out what you like yourself, that’s probably the most important thing as it’s going to be your home and your place. But other than that, furnish and decorate as that will make the home, so things like lamps, rugs, tableware, paintings etc… They can really change a space.

CH: With acting now on the side, what can we find you doing?
G: Surprisingly I’m very busy these days. I have my own website – www.gloriayip.hk – where I sell a variety of products. One of the main products are Minerva – vegetable arrangements or bouquets. It’s basically like a bouquet of flowers, except it’s made from vegetables that you can eat, so it’s healthy, fun and a colourful gift. I also sell arts and crafts and hats too!
