Beyond Luxury: The D+N2 House in Indonesia Feels Like Having a Hotel All to Yourself

by creativehomex

Luxury homes have evolved beyond just showcasing wealth or grandeur. Today, they embody a blend of thoughtful design, comfort, and the ability to offer unique experiences within a living space. These homes are now seen as personal sanctuaries, balancing elegance with functionality, and creating a sense of calm and retreat from the outside world. The D+N2 House in Tangerang, Indonesia, is a perfect reflection of this shift, seamlessly merging high-end living with intentional, immersive design.

Designed by DP+HS Architects, this modern extension of an earlier home completed in 2022 redefines luxury by offering more than just opulence. Spanning 640 m², the house includes features like a swimming pool, sauna, lounge, playroom, and basketball court. The spaces are crafted to balance openness with privacy, offering both expansive, light-filled areas and more intimate, sheltered corners.

Inspired by the concept of a “modern cave,” the house features a striking concrete and timber gate that protects the pool while connecting various parts of the home. Skylights and double-layer screens flood the interior with natural light, creating shifting patterns of shadows throughout the day. A soothing waterfall by the pool enhances the peaceful atmosphere, while cross-ventilation ensures a cool, comfortable climate inside.

The home’s exterior uses layered materials and textures to create depth and character, while inside, the design leads residents through a series of spatial transitions. Narrow entrances and low ceilings gradually open up to spacious areas like the pool and the second-floor basketball court, creating a fluid and dynamic interaction between the different spaces. This thoughtful progression makes the D+N2 House not just a luxurious residence but a carefully crafted living experience.
