In the fashion capital of Milan, Giorgio Armani is telling his design story in a completely new way. This time, he has chosen not the runway, but the latest Armani/Casa home collection to unfold a stunning narrative that bridges the East and West.
The thoughtfully crafted collection, named “Echi dal Mondo,” is akin to a meticulously directed global film. At Armani’s century-old headquarters in Milan, visitors can immerse themselves in the cultural essence of Japan, China, and the Middle East, experiencing the artistic inspiration that has been nurtured over decades of travel by the design maestro.
“I once dreamed of becoming a film director when I was young,” shares Armani, born in the small town of Piacenza in northern Italy. “This time, I use design as my language to reinterpret the countries that have inspired me so much, letting each piece tell its own unique story.”
After its debut at the Milan Furniture Fair in spring, the collection is now showcased at the historic Orsini Palace. As visitors wander through this 17th-century palace, a golden ribbon guides them through various cultural scenes. In the exhibition space, fashion, furniture, and rare travel treasures from Armani’s personal collection create a dialogue that transcends time and space.
Among the pieces, the Eastern elements are especially captivating. The Japanese warrior, embodied in the Virtù cabinet, showcases elegance with its knife-like handles and tatami textures. The Vivace dining table, infused with Chinese inspiration, features silver leaf accents and bamboo shadows, embodying the subtleties of Eastern aesthetics.
Middle Eastern influences bloom in the “One Thousand and One Nights” series, where the newly designed Club bar cabinet combines blue leather with chevron-patterned fabric screens. Inspirations from Berber culture run throughout: geometric velvet patterns on the Morfeo bed contrast beautifully with Canaletto walnut, while the Esagono coffee table, adorned with tassels, adds an exotic flair to the space.
European elegance is equally mesmerizing: the Trocadero dining table seamlessly blends organic glass with platinum lacquer, reflecting the noble spirit of medieval aristocracy. The vertical-striped glass facade of the Riesling bar cabinet seems to recount stories of refined European dinner parties.
This is more than just a furniture collection; it is Armani’s lifelong understanding of beauty transformed into tangible artistic treasures. Here, fashion, travel, cinema, and design weave together into an elegant poetry of life.
